Let's start with the fact that the design of most household overlocks and carpets is very similar.
In order to switch from an overlock stitch to a knit stitch, you just need to insert another needle.
So that you can better see how this is done, I raised the knife, but you do not need to do this.
The needle is inserted, the screw is tightened, it remains only to thread!
As you can see, I have all the threads of different colors.
This is necessary in order to fine-tune the stitch width and thread tension.
Of course, we need the fabric from which we sew the knitwear.
I will be sewing a rather thick and loose woolen jersey, so I am doing the adjustment on the same fabric.
I make a test line - I grind two shreds and examine them carefully.
I tighten the thread of the left needle that we just installed and the looper thread a little.
When adjusting the stitch, try to remember where in this line which thread is located - this will help you in the future to adjust the tension of the threads without threading with different colors.
In addition to tensioning the threads, you need to correct the stretching of the seam.
We can change the presser foot pressure to "light", however, I always have it set to "light".
And the value of the differential - that is, the rise of the rack - the teeth that move the fabric under the foot. This is the handle on the right.
So, I have 0,7, I'll put it on the norm - N.
And I'll try to send the sample again.
Not enough - I put the next value of the differential - 1,5.
I'm making one more line.
Now we need to make the stitch shorter. This is also the handle on the right.
If necessary, I can reduce the width of the line. The width knob shifts the knife and is located at the surface of the working panel on the right.
Let's change the value: it's a four, and I'll put a three.
I guess I'll pull up some more looper threads.
After that, you can re-thread the overlock (or carpet) with threads of the desired color.
Let me remind you how to do it.
We cut the threads on which the settings were made and tie the threads of the desired color to them. The threads must be of the same thickness, otherwise you will have to fiddle with the overlock setting again.
When the threads are tied and the tails of the knots are cut to three to five millimeters, we make a pigtail line at low speed, reaching the point where the knots are at the very needles.
We cut the needle threads and thread them into the needles again.
We bring the ends of all the threads under the foot and away from ourselves.
