How to patch holes and scuffs on jeans? on trousers?

example of professional darningScuffs of jeans turning into small holes: cut out a patch from dublerin in place so that it goes on a “healthy” fabric by 2-3 cm and stick it from the inside out;

from the face - one more layer from the same fabric as the whole product or, if there is none, from dubbing with a 1-2 cm approach to the "healthy" one.

Then, with a dense wide zigzag, fill in the hole and attrition.

There are subtleties: it is better to cut the dubbing edge with serrated scissors;

put more lines on the hole than on the edges, i.e. completely "cover" the dubbing.

A more "thin" version of darning is done with a straight stitch along the grain thread.

Professional darning is performed only with the same fabric from which the product is sewn.

For this, a rectangular flap is taken from the edges of which the threads are removed.

"Fringe" should reach at least 2 cm.

Then, the flap prepared in this way is superimposed and basted on the hole, and the threads of the "fringe" are carefully tucked between the threads of the product. at the end, dubbing is glued on the hole from the inside.

In addition, a hole in jeans can sometimes be covered with embroidery or iron-on.

And to avoid additional repairs, when hemming the bottom in new jeans, use the trouser tape of the corresponding color.

For men who wear rough shoes, the braid can be replaced with a metal zipper (which you have left after replacing straight stitch darningjacket zippers).

The bottom of the jeans is treated with tape in the same way as the bottom of the classic trousers, but after that do not forget to lay the finishing lines.

Fat lady's advice regarding the darning of trousers: When I sew for myself, then in place of friction (if the fabric is plain) I put a nylon transparent insert over the problem area, of course, if I can choose the color.

cutter's advice: it is worth immediately cutting out 2 - 3 wedges to the RFP for subsequent repairs, and when the product is worn out, just replace the worn wedge with a ready-made one.

If the worn place is wider than the wedge of the RFP, new wedges will also be saved from the remnants of the fabric, but they will have to be tinted immediately before repairing the trousers.

In any case, if you sew yourself, leave the leftovers for later repairs.

And wash trousers (especially jeans) with the zipper closed and turned inside out first.
