Do-it-yourself cutting features of a pencil skirt with a peplum according to a finished pattern

First, consider the difference between the two proposed versions of the peplum (picture 1).

"Peplum 1" does not have a flare in the side seam area and therefore will lie flatter on the sides than a "Peplum 2", which has a flare along the side line. In other words, peplum 2 is more fluffy in the side seam area.

Opening this skirt is very simple (picture 2): the fabric is folded in half face to face, the edges are aligned with each other and are parallel to the edge of the cutting table.

The share thread of the PP coincides with the half-slip (middle line), the share thread - ZP - with the middle seam.

The peplum is cut out to an oblique thread, and the belt (strip of fabric) can be cut both along the lobar and along the transverse thread.

The width of the belt blank is in most cases equal to 7 - 9 cm.

The width is calculated like this:

Two waistband widths finished + double seam allowance (2 cm.)

The length of the belt depends on the circumference of the waist:

From + 10 cm (to the transitional part).

The seam allowances are as follows: side and middle seams of the skirt - 1 - 1,5 cm; bottom of the skirt - 2,5 - 3 cm; piping cuts of the peplum - 0,7 - 1 cm.

No seam allowances are added to the waist sections of the skirt and peplum. Above the tucks and warehouses - allowances "houses".

How to sew a pencil skirt with peplum step by step

1. We start sewing with sewing a skirt: we grind and iron the tucks, overcast and grind the side and partially the middle seam. Then, a hidden zipper is sewn on.

4. Allowances are cut off to secure on the wrong side of the peplum, after which it is woven with large oblique stitches and ironed.
5. Warehouses are swept, the peplum is folded along the intended fold lines (picture 3) and ironed again.
6. To baste the peplum to the skirt, align the side seam line with the side seam of the skirt. If the peplum is too long, you can increase the soft warehouses.
