How to sew a detachable dress "forget-me-not" with a fitting

If we briefly formulate the principles of cutting this dress model, then it can be cut “across” (picture 3) and "along" (picture 4).

As for sewing, it is very important to first try on the bodice, on which to mark the line of connection of the bodice with the skirt in exact accordance with the figure. The second fitting is already with a skirt.

Now the details.

Let's start with design options for side sections and skirt lines (picture 1).

The convex side line is designed for a more fluffy version of the skirt and is convenient for transverse cutting (picture 3). In this case, the PP and RF skirts are laid on the fabric so that their side lines touch butt.

The slanted side lines, indicated in the drawing as “side seam”, are suitable for a slightly less fluffy version of the skirt and are convenient for cutting (picture 4).

The upper cut of the bodice is processed with facings, which are cut out according to the same patterns as the middle parts of the front and back (picture 2).

Seam allowances have some features and, as usual, serve for more convenient processing while maintaining the accuracy of the cut.

The most important allowance for the bottom of the bodice is 3 - 3,5 cm - it is necessary for trying on and clarifying the connection line of the bodice and skirt for a particular figure.

Please note that the length of the bodice depends not only on height, but also on other proportions and features of the figure. For example, for dolichomorphic figures, it is desirable to lengthen the bodice relative to the waist and thereby visually lower the waist, and for brachymorphic figures it is desirable to raise and, therefore, slightly shorten the bodice.

The bodice for stooped girls has a “skew” of length towards the back, and for kinky girls towards the shelves. Therefore, you should not align the length of the bodice parallel to the bottom of the pattern.

A large allowance on the bottom of the bodice allows you to fix it on the figure by tying it with a linen elastic and accurately mark the line of connection with the skirt.

We do not add an allowance along the upper cut and along the armhole so that these cuts do not become shorter. We do not add a waist cut of the skirt either, so that the opening of the tucks and the size of the warehouse does not change.

The remaining allowances are 1 cm. On the bottom of the skirt - 2,5 - 3 cm for a hem with an open cut, that is, for a single hem.

Above the tucks and folds we make an allowance - “houses” in order to be able to process them “cleanly”.

We do not add allowances to burlap.
