Qipao dress pattern set (Fig. 1)

1. Back.
2. Reversible shelf.

6. The sleeve is "narrow" with a figured bottom mark at the level of 3/4 of the length.
7. Stand collars are high and narrow.

Frill patterns are not included, as they are a strip of fabric. Below is how to cut it (Fig. 3).

Style and consumption of fabric for a dress

This style of coat is suitable for all types of figures, with the exception of the "apple". The silhouette of the dress is "X", semi-adjacent. The length of the dress is floor-length, maxi or ankle-length.

The consumption of fabric for this dress is significant and will be about 330 - 360 cm with a width of 140 cm.

When calculating the consumption, the full length of the sleeve and the consumption per frill of 50-60 cm were taken into account.

From what to sew a qipao cut-off dress with an assembly

Only fairly thin natural fabrics such as thin softened linen, thin jeans, cotton satin, natural chintz or cambric are suitable for sewing this dress.

It is important to choose fabrics that are light enough in weight and density so that the hem of the dress does not turn out to be too heavy and massive.

Is it worth it to sew this dress from silk? Yes, "silk" and thin jacquard silk fabric are also suitable for qipao style.

A fabric that contains natural silk and artificial fibers is well suited - this will reduce the price, simplify work and add comfort to wear.

Definitely not suitable for stretch fabrics.

As for the size, you should choose not by number, but by the desired volume of the product. Measure patterns before choosing a size!

Remember that this is a maxi dress - depending on the length of the frill, it comes to the ankle or to the floor.

Seam Allowances and Ruffle Width Calculation

We add an allowance of 1 cm to most sections (see Fig. 3).

The exception, as usual, is the cuts of the sprout (the neck of the back) and the neck, armholes and also the sleeves. As well as the qipao line on the “shelf” detail. This curve smoothly passes into the neck.

We DO NOT add allowances to the above cuts, since adding allowances will make them shorter.

A frill, as you know, is a strip of fabric. To calculate its width, consider the seam allowances for the frill:

• to the cut of attaching the frill - 1 cm;
• to the cut of the bottom - 2 cm for a hem with a closed cut (double hem).

The average width of the frill should be from 20 to 30 cm.

To accurately determine the length of the finished frill you need, measure the “skirt length” according to the half-skid pattern:

length from the waist to the bottom of the shelf 30 cm + the length of the wedge along the semi-skid 40 cm = Ø 70 cm

According to the figure, measure the full Du of your dress. If there is no assistant, then you will have to measure in front, although this is considered incorrect.

Further calculations are very simple:

desired du dress minus 70 cm + 3 cm

How to cut a qipao dress

First, let's figure out how to cut asymmetric parts and what additional parts will be needed to process them.

As you probably know, all asymmetrical details should be cut in a turn without folding the fabric in half.

If you turn over the “shelf” part, then turn over the “coquette” part. And it is very important not to turn the facings along the qipao line (Fig. 2).

In order not to confuse, we lay out the asymmetric parts on the front side of the fabric (Fig. 3).

For cutting facings, we use, as usual, doubler or interlining.

We cut along the glueless side without seam allowances and then, as shown in fig. 2.

Later, when we stick the glue fragments of the facings on the fabric, we can easily combine them into whole parts.

The sleeve is a steam room detail, so we cut the facing, folding the doubler in half. The doubler facing is cut out without seam allowances.

Having the facing blanks, we can start laying out the patterns and cutting the dress (Fig. 3).

It is convenient to cut a qipao dress in two stages.

The fabric is folded in half to the width of the back, as shown in fig. 3 on the left. The shelf and the coquette are laid on the front side of the fabric.

Details of the shelf and back are cut out with seam allowances.

Then, the fabric is folded in half so that the edges are aligned. The remaining parts are stacked in the most economical way - fig. 3 on the right - and cut out with seam allowances.

Turning blanks are glued to the remnants of the fabric and seam allowances are also added to them. In this case, these are allowances of 1 cm along the shoulder and side seams for facing the front and yoke, and 1 cm to the "vertical" seams for facing the sleeves.

The upper and lower stand-up collars are cut out after the fitting and processing of the shoulder sections, when the length of the neck is already clear.

The seam allowances for the rack are 0,7 for the bottom and 1 cm for the top.

The share direction for the top rack is along the middle line, and for the bottom it is desirable that the middle seam be “oblique”.

How to sew a qipao dress with your own hands

1. We process the coquette and the shelf with turning.
2. We collect the bodice for the first fitting, not forgetting to baste the zipper to the left side seam.
3. We process the bodice and the sleeve.
4. We knit the sleeve.
5. We assemble the middle wedges and side parts. Note that the assembly of the side part should be uneven and fade towards the beginning and end of the assembly section.
6. We sweep the bodice with a middle wedge, and then we sweep in the side details.
7. Making a collar
8. We do a sample. If necessary, we adjust the collar and make other changes.
9. We process swept seams.

10. We assemble the frill and process the cut of the bottom.

11. Baste and stitch the frill to the dress.

12. We carry out a fastener on a shelf.
