You can also use lightweight overcoat fabrics such as boucle or tweed, but in this case, the processing will be different from the stitch and can also be quite difficult for beginners.

Do-it-yourself coat pattern features

We start by determining the desired sleeve length and the coat itself. We compare the length of the shoulder-sleeve seam with the length of a similar section of your favorite coat or jacket.

Then we decide on the method of processing the bottom of the sleeve and coat. Whether the bottom will be processed into a hem or the cut will be overcast.

On the drawings 2 и 3 the layout is shown for fabrics on which the pile does not have a pronounced direction (boucle, tweed, knitwear). Details are stacked taking into account the desired direction of the thread. For pile fabrics - the pile for all parts should be in the same direction.

For the shelf, the share coincides with the half-drift line (the middle line of the product). In the back, the share should also coincide with the midline. Please note that the lobar back does not match the middle seam.

Seam allowances are not required for stretch fabrics. For stable - 1 cm along the middle seam of the back, shoulder and side seams. The remaining sections may not be processed in any way or they can be turned over, which does not require seam allowances.

An allowance is added along the bottom of the sleeve and coat, if only there is a hem, but in the model in the photo, the sections are processed on an overlock.

Coat layout for small sizes

We fold the fabric in half face inward, combining the edges and placing them parallel to the edge of the cutting table.

We lay the back, the shelf, measure a strip of up to 30 cm on the scarf and cut out these details.

Then, unfold the remaining lunge and cut out the sleeves. From the leftovers - burlap pockets - 4 parts.

Layout according to the pattern of women's coats of large sizes

For larger sizes with a fabric width of 140 cm, another layout is more suitable - picture 3.

The fabric is folded in half. The scarf is folded.

When the parts are cut out, it is necessary to make notches on the half-skid and the side seam. Notch length 0,5 cm.

If everything is clear with the semi-skid (the middle line of the shelf) - the notch is at the top, then explanations are required about the side seams.

First you need to fold all four side cuts together, aligning the top and bottom points. Then, measure from the armhole down the sections 25 - 30 cm and make the first notch. Attach the pocket burlap to it and make a second notch.

Sewing coats without ribs, fasteners and lining knitted stitch does not require serious skills, but it is important to know that each seam of such a coat should be carefully ironed through damp calico folded in half or steamed with a steam iron.

1. Stitch the shoulder seams on the overlock, placing an edge under the seam or duplicating it with a knitted doubler.
2. Iron the seam towards the back.
3. Stitch sleeves on overlocker. Without smudging.
4. Iron the seam.
5. Stitch burlap pockets along notches.
6. Stitch side-sleeve seams.
7. Iron the seam.
8. Stitch a scarf like a collar to the notch at the half-skid.
9. Overcast or edge open cuts.
