Style and fabric consumption
This style of jacket is suitable for all types of figures of any height. Trapeze silhouette.
The consumption of raincoat fabric for sewing this jacket model with a width of 140 - 150 cm will be from 210 to 300 cm, depending on the size. The calculation of the expense is made taking into account that the inner part of the hood will be cut out from the lining fabric, and the selection along the middle part of the shelf from the "top" fabric. An accurate calculation should be performed with ready-made patterns after specifying the length of the sleeve and the length of the product.
The consumption of insulation is the same as the consumption of the "top" fabric.
Lining fabric consumption: from 180 to 220 cm, with a width of at least 140 cm.
Length of zipper tape: from 68 - 78 cm, but it is better to adjust the length of the jacket to the length of the zipper. With a small length correction, cut off or add along the bottom, with a large correction (5 - 15 cm) it is better to lay the warehouse between the waist and hips on the template, and then bring out the “vertical sections” smoothly or cut the patterns and “push apart” the patterns to the desired length.
Fur strip on the edge 70 cm long. The width of the strip depends on the type of fur.
What to sew a winter down jacket with a zipper with a hood
Any raincoat fabric will do, but it is better to choose a membrane fabric.
The lining fabric can be ordinary, with a sliding surface. But, you can also use a woolen biker or faux fur on a soft knitted base or fleece.
A variety of heaters also allows you to unfold your imagination. It can be a synthetic winterizer, and silicone, sintepon, sintepuh, holofiber, holofan, thermofiber, fibertek ... The list can be continued, as each manufacturer comes up with new names for their products.
Almost any insulation of any thickness is suitable for this model, but warmer options are obtained from heaters consisting of hollow fibers. Manufacturers claim that all modern heaters are just like that.
Of course, professionals can use natural down or wool.

Sewing a down jacket with a hood with your own hands
A lot has been said about the choice of size, so I will only remind you of the basic principles - we compare the size of the pattern with a similar product and the thicker the insulation, the larger the size we choose.
Seam allowances
Add a 1 cm allowance to most cuts.
An exception, as in other cases, is the cuts of the sprout (the neck of the back) and the neck, armholes and also the sleeves. We do NOT add allowances to them.
On the bottom of the sleeve 3 - 5 cm.
If there is a desire to make a jacket with a smell, then we cut the right shelf with an allowance of 7 cm:
3 cm - for the “protrusion” of the side beyond the line of half-skid;
3 cm for a one-piece selection;
1 cm for seam allowance.
How to cut a jacket
Let's start with the "top" layout (picture 2) - there are no difficulties at this stage, the share direction is marked on the patterns. We cut out the selection along the middle part of the shelf.
We cut the facing along the bottom according to the same patterns - we cut out strips of 5 - 6 cm (this is the width of the facing in finished form), so as not to make a mistake, as well as add allowances for seams to other details. If the lining is in a contrasting color, the hemline can be made wider. It is not necessary to duplicate the facings, but in the second case, the lining is cut out shorter than the “top” details.
Do not forget that the middle part of the hood is not a pair, that is, it needs one.
Pocket markings may vary. Pockets can be located vertically above the waist and below the waist by 5 - 8 cm. Two pairs of pockets can also be processed. At your discretion.
Open lining (picture 3) does not differ from the cutting of the “top”, except that the share direction does not have to be strongly maintained.
The cutting of the insulation is carried out in a turn along the details of the cut, followed by a temporary or permanent connection of the insulation with the details of the "top" and lining. It is advisable to quilt the "top" and the lining separately - this way the product will be warmer, regardless of which insulation is used.
How to sew a jacket with your own hands
Sewing a down jacket essentially comes down to three stages:
- Assembling the "top" of the jacket with quilting with insulation and processing of pockets.
- Assembling the lining of the jacket with quilting with insulation.
- Connecting top and lining
More in detail the stages of cutting and sewing a jacket on a heater discussed in the descriptions for other models.
