How to cut a batwing kimono dress with pockets

If the level of sewing is suitable for beginner tailors, then cutting can be a little difficult. Let's break down this dress in detail.

Let's start with making patterns. The pattern "back-shelf" should be made in two versions: as a shelf - with a neck and a deflection along the bottom of the sleeve and as a back - with a sprout and a convex bottom of the sleeve.

The patterns of the details of the "valance-barrel" and "burlap" are universal for all sizes. Particular attention should be paid to notches, which are so often talked about by teachers of sewing courses. Be sure to apply notches on the patterns in order to later make marks on the fabric and notches on the seam allowances of the cut details.

When the patterns are ready, the fabric is folded in half face to face, the edges are aligned and placed parallel to the edge of the cutting table.

Patterns of the shelf and back are stacked "jack" (picture 2), while the shelf - with a half-skid on the fold of the fabric, and the back - with the middle seam to the edge. “Barrels-valances” will need 4 parts, and “burlap” - two, this is if you lay the patterns on the fold of the fabric or cut out the burlap in a turn. From the remnants we cut out the facings.

Allowances - 1 cm each, except for the sprout-neck - it is cut out for the stroke line of the pattern and the bottom of the dress - 3 - 3,5 cm will be needed for the hem.

Let's talk separately about facings for processing the sprout, neck and bottom of the sleeves (picture 3). We cut them out according to the same patterns as the shelf and back from dublerin and always without seam allowances.

Not from paper or fabric, but from DOUBLERIN. First, we outline the cut itself, which we will process with this turning and for an hourcuts that are closely adjacent to it, the width of the facing parts is 4–5 cm.

The facings cut out from the dubbing are laid out on the fabric remaining after cutting the main details of the fabric from the wrong side.

Then glue them on and cut them out... Attention! cut out with seam allowances.

How to sew a bat kimono dress with pockets for beginners

1. Particularly important in sewing dresses of this model seam notches play. It is impossible to assemble the product without them.
2. We start by processing the middle seam of the back with a zipper (picture 4), then the seams of the shoulder-sleeve and fragments of the side seams from the blue cross to the bottom.
3. We process fragments of the seam at the bottom of the sleeve - from the bottom to the green cross and grind together two valance barrels from the green cross to the bottom.
4. Do not forget to overcast open seam sections and carry out their wet-heat processing.
5. When all the above seams are processed, we move on to the pockets.
6. We grind the entrance to the pockets with the “burlap” detail - from blue to red cross.
7. Then, parableswe make valance barrels, connecting their convex sections, starting with a green cross, go to burlap and return again to the green cross.
8. Only the processing of the neck, the bottom of the sleeve and the bottom of the product remain.

As you can see, a little confusing, but not difficult.
