How to cut a raglan hoodie sweatshirt according to a finished pattern

As already written above, you should calculate the fabric consumption according to the finished sweatshirt patterns, clearly understanding how and what you will sew.

Considering that stretch and footer products are sewn on an overlock with a knitted seam, seam allowances are not needed. That is, the patterns are outlined with a thin chalk line and cut out while maintaining the line on the details of the product. Thus, we get the allowance we need, sufficient for sewing on an overlocker (figures 2 и 3).

What is a knitted stitch and how not to confuse it with an overcast overlock stitch...

Exceptions for allowances are only sections of the pocket and bottom - add 2,5 - 3 cm each. If the hood is single and you plan to process it into a hem with an open cut (overcast, fold and hem), then you also need to add 2,5 - 3 cm.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the allowances for processing the pocket. Along the cut of the entrance, the allowance should be lengthened so that by bending it, you “close” the entire entrance area with it by 2,5 - 3 cm. If in doubt, add 3 cm “around” the pocket. Then it will not be difficult to cut off the excess.

It is also worth noting that it is better to cut the footer by folding the fabric in half inside out, since it is impossible to draw lines on the fleece.

And then everything is simple - we lay out the patterns in the most economical way. We lay three parts on the fold of the fabric - the back, the shelf and the pocket.

The hood can be cut in any share direction.

After cutting, do not forget to mark the pocket entry point on the shelf by hand-stitching with a contrasting thread for marking. It is also worth marking a half-skid (middle line) on the shelf and on the pocket along the entire vertical. We outline the middle line of the back with notches along the sprout (the neck of the back).

Next is the sequence of sewing raglan hoodies.

1. First, we process the sections of the pocket entrances - swept over, bent, ironed, secured with a stitching line (or a line that replaces it for you).
2. They ironed the upper and lower sections of the pocket and put it on the place marked on the shelf. Stitched the top cut. Please note that you can sew overhead, or from the inside of the pocket with a narrow zigzag. Then, the bottom cut was sewn in an overhead way. Overlay stitches can be sewn with decorative stitches.
3. Carefully iron the pocket.
