3. Description of the design of the hoodie pattern - sweatshirt - vest

The model of the “cocoon” silhouette is oversized, that is, very free and large in volume.

The size figures are conditional, therefore it is recommended to choose the size by applying the finished control product to the patterns of the back, folding the Back-shoulder and Back-middle along the relief line.

The absence of a side seam makes the model quite interesting in terms of tailoring.

Invoice pocket. The hood is very simple, made of two halves.

The figured cuff can be replaced with a regular rectangular cuff.

The arm hole, which can be called both the armhole and the bottom line of the sleeve, is also processed with a strip of cuff fabric.

4. What to sew a women's sweatshirt from - a vest with a hood and what fabric consumption

Patterns of a sweatshirt-vest with a hood for winter and summer photo 2There will be no sensations about fabrics - jersey, footer, fleece or other knitwear that does not stretch too much will do.

You can use both thin and thick jersey. For example, a footer with felt fleece or a footer with fur is for autumn and winter, and cooler or dress knitwear is for summer.

The only unsuitable fabric will be pile knitwear - velvet or plush. This is explained by the fact that the pile on the details should be in the same direction, and with the side of the shelf, which is attached to the back, this is impossible.

As mentioned above, for sewing you will need cuff fabric (kashkorse, cuff elastic, cuff knitwear, ribana - you can come across various names).

You can use thin or fairly dense cuff knitwear. It depends on the fabric that you have chosen for the vest - sweatshirt and on your plan.

Fabric consumption with a width of 180 cm will be 140 - 150 cm.

Fabric consumption with a width of 150 cm will be from 150 cm to 180 cm.

The consumption of cuff fabric (dovyaz, ribs) will be from 50 - 60 cm, if we measure along the length of the cut or “pipe”.

6. How to cut a sweatshirt - a vest according to a finished pattern

How to cut a sweatshirt - a vest with a hood according to a finished pattern (fig 2)First, we choose the size, based on how large the volume we are interested in. To do this, we compare the patterns of the back, putting them together along the relief with the finished product.

For example, we have a product made of footer with fur. So we will compare patterns with a jacket on a synthetic winterizer. If we sew from a cooler, then we compare it with a sweatshirt or a loose T-shirt.

Layout (picture 2) will not require you to strictly adhere to the equity for the back and hood. On the fold of the fabric (or on the edges) we lay the shelf and pocket. Allowances are needed only for processing the lightning along the half-slide (the middle line of the shelf) and for processing the pocket. Let's add 1 - 1,5 cm.

The cuff pattern is shown in 2 drawing at the bottom. For the largest sizes, the width of the cuff may not be enough to cut out the cuff. For the convenience of cutting the largest sizes, you can slightly stretch the cuff with an iron or cut it with a middle seam instead of a fold. But it's better to stretch.

For a “straight” cuff, the finished width will be about 10 cm, and in cutting - 22 cm:

Cut Width = 2 Finished Widths + 2cm.

As for the "cuff" (slats), which processed the entrance to the pocket. This is definitely a rectangle, the width of which in the finished form is 2 - 3 cm. In cutting:

Cuff length = Pocket entry length + 2 cm

Cuff width = 2 finished widths + 2 cm

To process the “bottom of the sleeve”, we also cut out a rectangular strip of cuff fabric along the length of the cut to be processed.

Strip width = 2 finished widths + 2 cm.

After cutting, do not forget to make notches, which are indicated on the patterns of the shelf and back.

7. How to sew a raglan hooded sweatshirt at home

As you already know, most stitching is performed on an overlock with a knitted seam

It's fast, convenient, and produces strong seams.

Handling pockets, sewing cuffs can be done with a straight line and / or a narrow zigzag. Lightning - a straight line.

См. также how to set up overlock

Remember that the overlock setting should be done before you start sewing the product.

An approximate sequence for sewing a sweatshirt - vest is as follows:

  1. Prepare blank pockets: stitch, ironed twice along the transverse thread of the “cuffs” on the overlock; iron the stitching seam; iron the side cut of the pocket and the top cut.
  2. Stitch the relief of the back on the overlock, iron. If there is a middle back seam, it should also be downloaded and ironed.
  3. Stitch the seam "shoulder-sleeve" on the overlock, iron.
  4. Process the “bottom of the sleeve” from the notch on the shelf to the end of the cut. To do this, pre-iron a strip of cuff fabric along the transverse thread and stitch it on the overlock to the cut, and then iron it. Please note that the strip can be sewn, slightly stretched or pre-stretched with an iron, and then sewn.
  5. Stitch the seam that connects the "shelf" and "shelf-barrel-bottom". Iron. Carry out a fastening.
  6. Place and topstitch a pocket. Iron. Perform bindings.
  7. Sew along the bottom of the cuff product, having previously ironed it. If you want, you can stretch the dovyaz with an iron so that it does not pull the product along the bottom, or vice versa - let it tighten and form an overlap.
  8. Attach lightning.
  9. Assemble the hood.
  10. Sew on the hood.
