The set of patterns for women's sports trousers with pockets includes (Fig. 1):
- PP pattern (front half of trousers) with markings for the pocket entry line;
- PP pattern with a cut of the entrance to the pocket;
- pattern ZP (back half of trousers);
- pattern of pocket details - burlap-turning and burlap-valance.
The cuff is not included in the pattern set, as it is a strip of fabric, but the cuff cutting is described below.
This simple pattern allows you to sew women's sweatpants with your own hands, both with pockets, and no pockets.
The style of these trousers is suitable for most figures for any height. It is recommended to measure the length of the pants before cutting, taking into account the desired cuff width. See the cutting description below for how to do this.
Stretch fabrics with medium stretch are suitable for sewing. Footer and fleece are ideal. The so-called "dovyaz" can be used as a cuff.
The consumption of fabric for trousers in sizes 40-52 is from 115 to 130 cm while maintaining the length.
The consumption of fabric for trousers in sizes 52-62 will be up to 150 cm with a width of 140 cm and about 120 cm with a width (footer) of 180 cm, if the length of the patterns is saved.

How to sew simple women's sports pants for beginners step by step
The schematic cutting of sports trousers without pockets and with pockets in the side seam has already been considered, so we will not repeat ourselves. But you can read about it at the link below:
How to cut sweatpants or shorts
Let's start by determining the length of the product in finished form.
Sweatpants length when finished = ZP length at side seam + Waistband width + Cuff width
All terms of this sum are also “finished”, that is, “desired width”.
In order not to get confused, it would be good to measure the length of the trousers without a belt and cuff according to the finished product, but if this is not the case, we will calculate the desired length of the pattern in order to shorten or lengthen it as necessary.
We measure the length of the trousers along the side of the figure from the waist to the desired length, if there is an overlap, then taking into account the overlap.
From the measurement of dB (trouser length), we subtract the desired belt width and the desired cuff width, estimating them on a ruler or centimeter tape.
For example, the length of the slouchy trousers was 100 cm, we subtract 4 cm of the belt and 5 cm of the cuffs (these are average values), we get 91 cm of the length of the RFP pattern (back half) along the side seam. The excess should simply be bent, after drawing a horizontal line parallel to the bottom line. In the same way, trousers can be lengthened by extending the side and step sections and drawing a horizontal line parallel to the bottom.
Now that the length of the pattern has been adjusted in accordance with our wishes, we can proceed to cutting (Fig. 3 - 5).
When cutting, it is desirable to observe the fractional direction of the thread. The fabric is folded in half face inward, the edges are aligned and parallel to the edge of the cutting table.
The PP and ZP of the trousers are stacked "jack", and the details of the pockets, belts and cuffs are located in the most economical way.
On fig. 3 - 5, the cutting of trousers with a belt and cuffs from the same fabric is considered. The cuffs and belt are cut out from the dovyaz so that the “stripes” run across the part.
Belt width in cutting = 2 belt widths in finished form + 1,5 cm
Cut-out cuff width = 2 finished cuff widths + 1,5 cm
Cuff length = free ankle circumference + 1,5cm
As you can see, the calculations are simple and the number “1,5” appears everywhere - this is double the width of the seam, that is, 0,7 cm multiplied by two.
Note that no seam allowance is added as the stretch fabrics are supposed to be sewn with a knit stitch on an overlocker.

Laying out patterns of trousers on fabric
Now consider each drawing with the layout separately.
On fig. 3 shows the layout on a fabric with a width of 180 cm. This width is found in the footer and is especially advantageous for large sizes.
If your fabric is 140 cm wide, then the RFP may have to be cut out with an additional stitch (Fig. 4). In this case, the pattern is cut or its fragment is outlined on a piece of paper. Then, the non-fitting fragment is cut out with a double allowance for the seam of the finishing (1,5 - 2 cm). When the dot is connected to the RFP and the seam is ironed, do not forget to compare the outlines of the RFP part and the pattern. If necessary, base the RFP on the pattern (cut accurately).
On fig. 5 shows the simplest version of cutting sports trousers - without pockets.
And in fig. 6 - pattern correction when sewing trousers with a low waist. If you have little sewing experience, it is better to do such a lowering of the waist cut at the fitting, but more on that at the end of the description of sewing sports trousers with your own hands.
We start with the processing of pockets on the PP.
We attach the detail of the burlap-turning to the “PP with a pocket” - first to one, then to the other, cut the seam allowance in several places.
The width of the seam, while 0,5 cm. We adjust the seam allowance on the burlap facing. We bend the burlap-turning inside out, iron it and laying the finishing line, which will secure the entrance to the pocket.
Then, we sweep or grind the burlap-valance with the burlap-turning first with a straight line, overcast and iron again. Making bartacks manually or by machine.
The pocket is ready. We notice it so that it does not deform, and compare the PP with the processed pocket and the PP pattern. They must be congruent.

Now it's the turn of the side and step seams - we grind them with a knitted seam on an overlock and iron them. Next - we grind the seam of the bow-seat and iron it.
The cuffs on the bottom and the belt are ironed in half lengthwise and stitched in the same way.

If you want to sew trousers with a low waist, then it is better to cut them off on top at the fitting (Fig. 6). To do this, tie the pants with a linen elastic on the figure and lower the elastic to the place where the cut of the belt should be sewn.
By the way, the trouser belt can be replaced with a wide elastic band.
