Cut the version with stripes in one direction:

  1. To cut a sundress with stripes in one direction, the fabric is folded in half face to face, the edges are aligned and parallel to the edge of the cutting table.
  2. The halves of the skirt and the front are laid on the fold of the fabric, and the back - to the edge (Fig. 2). This two-piece back layout is more economical and simpler than the one-piece back layout.
  3. Allowances for seams are added only along the cut of the drawstring and along the waist cut of the bodice, in order to accurately determine the length of the bodice and the size of the overlap by the height and features of the figure.
  4. Drawstring allowance - 2,5 - 4 cm, waist - 3,5 - 4 cm.
  5. Red crosses indicate the points on the patterns of the back and shelves, which are combined when sewing the bodice.

Pattern sundress "stripes" 38-54 pic3Opening a “striped” sundress with a skirt having a different position of the stripes is somewhat more complicated (Fig. 3):

To simplify cutting, you can cut by spreading the fabric without folding it in half. Otherwise, each detail will have to be cut out separately.

For processing open sections of the bodice of the striped sundress, it is good to use an oblique trim.

Having processed the inclined sections and drawstrings (double hem), you should connect the back and the shelf along the cut of the waist, as in the photo, connecting the points corresponding to the red crosses (Fig. 1 - 3).

Then you need to thread the tie into the drawstrings and try on. When trying on, it is advisable to tie the bodice with a linen elastic band, which will allow you to accurately determine the desired length of the bodice with an optimal overlap.

After the length of the bodice is determined, you can sew, overcast and iron the side seams of the skirt and assemble along the skirt by pulling the waist cut to the size of the cut of the bodice.

❗️ Please note that assembly along the bottom of the bodice is not needed, but after you connect the skirt to the bodice, a couple of lines with rubber thread should be laid along the seam of their connection.

The “rubber seam” will allow you to emphasize the waist and freely put on a striped sundress without a fastener.
