Description of the design of robes that can be sewn using this pattern

This is perhaps the simplest design possible for a robe with a hood.

The style requires a minimum of processing, since the skirts are one-piece. The slope of the hood hem is ensured by a small dart along the hem.

The sleeve is non-stop, that is, the edging is evenly distributed over the armhole and you don’t have to sew it in, but sew it in right away. This cut does not require special skills.

The pocket can be made as a patch pocket - using only the “Burlap-facing” part. Or the “cut-off barrel” type - using two pocket parts according to the patterns of the kit.

As for the difference between women's and men's cuts, it lies in the side seam.

Simple patterns for a bathrobe with a hood for men photo 3For figures with wide shoulders and narrow hips (men's or sporty women's), choose a vertical line on the side seam.

For figures with wide hips and narrow shoulders (female), choose an inclined side seam line.

For figures with a large belly (such as an apple), you can choose a straight back and an extended shelf.

What fabric to choose and what will be its consumption?

The choice of fabrics nowadays is quite large.

Starting from cotton “waffle” fabric and ending with terry fabrics.

In addition to traditional materials that absorb water well, such robes are often sewn as home wear rather than bath wear. In this case, we consider the following options: footer, velor, ivy, rabbit knitwear, fleece, velsoft and other soft and warm fabrics.

When purchasing, pay attention to the width.

Fabric consumption with a width of 150 cm will be from 210 to 300 cm.

Consumption for a width of 180 cm – from 160 to 260 cm.

To clarify the consumption, it is recommended to pre-lay out the patterns on the fabric.

How to cut a bathrobe with a hood using a ready-made pattern

After choosing the size, you should decide on the side seam and choose a pocket.

How to cut a robe with a hood using a ready-made pattern, Fig. 2Then you will need measurements:

  1. robe length - from the side or middle point of the neck along the back to the desired length;
  2. length to the waist - from the side point of the neck along the back to the waist (for slender men) and from the side point of the neck to the waist along the front for curvy women and men with a protruding belly;
  3. The sleeve length can be checked using the finished sleeves of your favorite robe or jacket.

Based on the measurements taken, we adjust the pattern - length and place for the belt.

After this you can start cutting.

We do not add seam allowances - the increase in the chest is 10 cm, but if it is not enough, we simply take a larger size.

In Fig. 2 и 3 The most likely layout options are shown.

A little more detail about what is shown in Fig. 3. The sleeve does not fit the width of the fabric, so after the front and back are cut out, we unfold the remainder and cut out the sleeves.

As for pile fabrics, cutting should be done so that the pile of the front, back and sleeves is in the same direction.

If the fabric is thick, then the “Burlap-facing” part is better cut out from thinner fabric. For example, from thin dense knitwear or durable lining fabric. A fine lining mesh works well.

The belt, as already mentioned, is a strip of fabric. The optimal cutting width is 10 cm. Length is approximately 150 cm.

After cutting, do not forget to make notches by folding all 4 side cuts together - the place of the belt.

You will need notches on the sections of the hood - the edges of the side and a dart (or fold), notches on the shelf along the bottom - the edge of the side.

How to cut a bathrobe with a hood using a ready-made pattern, Fig. 3It is also advisable to mark the half-skid on the front side and the edge line of the side. If it is difficult to create a chalk line on the fabric, sew a stitch with a contrasting thread by hand (inlay stitch with large stitches) or by machine (basting stitch).

On this cutting can be considered complete.

How to sew a robe with a hood with your own hands

As stated above, this is a very simple model.

Before we get started, let’s look at the simplest options for processing pockets using the patterns included in the kit and in the last photo.

  1. Cut-off barrel type pocket. We apply a burlap facing 5–7 cm down from the waist level. We grind along the line of entry into the pocket. We put a burlap valance and grind both burlaps. We sew both burlap along the edge to the shelf.
  2. Patch pocket. You only need the Burlap-facing part. Edge the entrance to the pocket and the edge of the burlap. Apply and stitch.

Now the sewing sequence.

  1. Process pockets.
  2. Stitch and iron the darts. The hood dart can be processed as a soft pleat.
  3. Sew the hood and press the seam.
  4. Overcast or edge the edges of the hems.
  5. Make a belt. It can consist of two fragments that are attached to the robes or be one piece and not attached to the robe.
  6. If the belt is attached to the underbreasts, then along the line of the edge of the bead in the dart area. an incision is made. A belt is inserted into the incision, which should be secured with a stitch.
  7. Fold and iron or simply hem the hem. Can be done with a finishing stitch or a hidden stitch.
  8. Stitch and press or press the shoulder seams.
  9. Sew in the sleeves, evenly distributing the edging. Overcast and iron the seam.

How to sew a robe with a hood using a ready-made pattern photo 510. Sew the side seams with a gap of 4 cm to thread the belt in the place that you marked when you measured the length to the waist or according to the mark on the pattern. Then, we iron the seam and make fastenings - we fasten the pass (hole) for the belt on both sides. You can use a horizontal stitch, or you can sew on a piece of braid or fabric that will strengthen the seam.

11. We process the bottom of the sleeve and the bottom of the robe into a hem with an open or closed cut - single or double hem.
