The pocket is processed like a leaf, one end of which is included in the relief, and the other - in the side seam. In this case, instead of a relief, a tuck is used.

For summer, you can use linen and thin jeans or a suit.

6. How to cut an asymmetrical sundress according to ready-made patterns

Before proceeding to cutting, consider some features of pocket processing (picture 2). Beginning home couturiers can cut out a skirt without pockets.

The rest will need a rectangular strip of fabric for the leaf detail.

Leaf width in cutting = 2 widths in finished form + 2 cm (optimally within 4 - 6 cm)

The length of the leaflet in the cut = the length of the entrance to the pocket according to the pattern + 6 cm (excess cut off in the process)

The leaflet should be ironed along in half, as shown in 2 drawing – the bent part is shaded.

The PP of the skirt is cut out without a fragment, which can be conditionally called a “valance” along the pocket entry line, but a seam allowance of 1 cm is required.

Before cutting, the “valance” fragment can be bent on the pattern so that there is no confusion. On fig. 2 is shaded.

When the PPs are cut out, it is worth making a notch along the middle line of the tuck - from above until the end of the stitching line for burlap and leaves. In the process of cutting, especially if the fabric is loose, we only “outline” the notch, it can be extended later.

On the 2 drawing shows the places where the pocket parts (leaves and burlap) overlap on the PP during the assembly of the product.

Consider the rest of the seam allowances (picture 3).

For the most part, they will make up the standard 1 cm. Exceptions:

1. add 3-4 cm along the waist of the bodice in order to perform a high-quality fitting.
2. We do not add skirts at the waist at all.
3. along the bottom to the edge of the side of the skirt - 3 - 4 cm for a hem with an open or closed cut.

Waist band width = 2 finished widths + 2 cm (optimally 8 - 10 cm)

The length of the belt can be measured by the length of the waist section of the skirt plus 2 cm for the seams, or up to 150 cm across the width of the fabric. It depends on your idea.

Cutting is not difficult, but it is important to understand that if the bodice is asymmetrical, we cut it as symmetrical, since we will use the second parts as a lining.

When cutting from relatively thick fabrics, it is recommended to cut the lower bodice from the lining fabric. And in this case, the details of the back and shelves are cut out in a single copy.

Another important point: the burlap-“valance” share for the part must coincide with the share direction of the PP. In other words, when this gap is stitched to the PP, they should have the same share direction - the strips (if any) should match.

After cutting, notches and / or markings should be made along the line of entry into the pocket and along the half-drift (the middle line of the PP and the shelf, which coincides with the middle line of the body).

7. How to sew this sundress step by step

1. The beginning is standard: pocket processing on PP. When the leaf is ironed, it should be applied to the cut of the entrance to the pocket, put burlap on top and grind. Iron the seam and topstitch. Place an oversight. Cover pocket. Fasten the pocket at the ends - near the tuck and near the side seam. Stitch and overcast the burlap, stitch the tuck. Iron.
2. Collect skirt. There is nothing new or unusual in this and the next paragraph.
3. Assemble the bodice.
4. Fitting. Put on the bodice, tie with a linen elastic band, outline the waist according to the figure. Cut off the excess and sweep with a skirt. Try it on again.
5. Connect the bodice with the skirt "dirty" with open cuts on the "face".
6. Iron the belt lengthwise - 1 cm at the top and bottom.
7. Apply a belt to cover the open cuts of the connection of the bodice and skirt, topstitch, covering the "dirty" seam.
8. Stitch the ends of the belt.
9. Run loops, sew on buttons.
