What to sew and fabric consumption

For sewing a sundress dress, stretch fabrics with a low stretch coefficient (i.e., which only stretch slightly) are recommended.

Thin jeans and stretch satin will also work.

Of course, if there are additional details such as a peplum or shuttlecock, the cost for them should also be added.

How to cut and sew a strapless sundress dress

If there is "little black dress", then there should be a “little white dress”.

However, the "little dress" can be any color. The main conditions: zero increase and "bones" in the reliefs.

The technique of cutting and sewing this model is very simple (picture 2).

The fabric is folded in half, face inward, the edges are aligned and parallel to the edge of the cutting table.

Dress patterns are stacked as shown in fig. 2. Of course, the middle part of the shelf - to the fold.

Vertical seam allowances 1 - 1,5 cm, along the bottom - 3 - 3,5 cm, along the top - 2 - 2,5 cm.

Tip on cutting technique: if you want to simplify the processing of the top of the dress as much as possible, then cut dubbing strips 2–2,5 cm wide along the upper part of the patterns and lay these strips in a common layout, as shown in Figure 2.

But in case you process the upper cut of the strapless dress with an oblique trim, this allowance will not be needed.

For peplum sundress dresses the basic pattern of the dress is cut along the waistline and laid out on the fabric (Fig. 3), taking into account allowances for seams along the waist.

How to cut a guipure dress

Cutting white guipure dress consider separately:

1. We cut the cover from satin according to the base pattern (Fig. 1).
2. And for the guipure “top”, we cut the basic dress pattern (as for a peplum dress) along the waist line or higher, as you like.
3. Frills - strips of guipure - we sew, having previously gathered them, on the “skirt” of the “top” of the dress.
4. Attention! If you need an INDIRECT top cut of the dress, change it ONLY AT A SESSION!

As for processing, after sewing and overcasting the seam allowances, you must attach to the allowances bones or "hard" regiline.

Allowances for bones each seam is tied together and silicone bones up to the waist are inserted inside. It is desirable to melt the ends of the bones.

To prevent them from sliding down, secure the allowance with a horizontal bartack.

It’s even easier with regilin: we overcast the allowances one at a time, melt the ends and sew a strip of regilin to the waist level on each allowance.

The exception is the middle seam of the back, since we sew a "zipper" to this cut.

And one more unsolicited advice: in the end, on the wrong side of the dress, make 2 - 3 air loops with buttons to fasten them before you fasten the zipper.

This little trick will significantly extend the life of the lock.
