I sewed according to a size 46 pattern, sutured my hips and waist, I have a disproportionate figure, hips and waist are smaller than the size grid data . Fabric - Cotton with elastane, the percentage of stretch is small. I have some amateur sewing experience, everything was very clear to me in the instructions. "

How to cut a sundress case according to a finished pattern with your own hands

Photo of a version of a sundress according to a strapless patternAs you can see, in set of patterns includes the two upper middle shelves.

A pattern without folds is suitable for sewing a model without folds on a semi-skid (see photo of a checkered sundress of a case), but if you are sewing a sundress with pleats, you will need a reference pattern of the unmodeled part during the sewing process.

It is also possible that experienced couturiers will want to make a sheath sundress partially or completely lined. In this case, the reference pattern will also come in handy.

Drawing how to cut and sew a sundress according to the finished pattern with your own handsThe detail of the shuttlecock in the process of cutting can be replaced with a regular oblique strip of fabric 6–7 cm wide and at least 40 cm long.

The upper cut, instead of turning, can also be processed with a strip of fabric made along the oblique. Undercut piping, of course, is also suitable. In this case, it is better to tint it on the product after the first fitting.

It is advisable to choose the size in such a way that the increase for the breast in a product without bones is at least 2 cm, and in a product with bones - 0 - 2 cm.

Open sundress case presents no difficulty. Allowances - 1 cm. Exceptions: along the bottom - 2 - 2,5 cm, we do not add an allowance along the upper cut. Above the warehouses - small "houses" - up to 2 cm.

Photo of a sewn sundress of a case according to a pattern with strapsFor the first fitting, the straps and shuttlecock are not required, so they can be cut out later.

The share plank, which will cover the beginning of the folds, is cut out along the length of the middle part plus 3 cm. The width of the share plank in cutting is 5 cm, and in finished form - 3 cm.

The width of the oblique bar is 4 - 4,5 cm. Its total length should be approximately 5 - 10 cm longer than the length of the upper cut of the sundress.

For a frill or another oblique strip for a "sleeve", seam allowances are not required.

The share thread in the details of the sundress is perpendicular to the horizontal lines of the waist and hips. But for the middle of the shelf with folds, it is desirable that the middle seam, the relief and the cut of the top do not fall on the lobar or transverse thread. This will allow you to perform, if necessary, a finer fit of the sundress according to the figure.

How to sew a sundress case after cutting step by step

  1. You should start sewing a sundress by sewing and ironing the folds.
  2. Compare the resulting blanks with a similar pattern without folds, having previously made notches along the cut of the relief.
  3. Sweep (it is possible on a typewriter) the middle seam of the upper middle part of the shelf, iron and bast to the lower middle part of the shelf.
  4. Photo of a sewn sundress of a case according to a pattern without strapsThen, collect the rest of the seams in the same way. It is better to sweep the lightning to the side cuts on the left.
  5. After that, the product can be tried on.
  6. For a quality fitting, you will need the edges of the fabric or any braid to determine the length and attachment points of the straps, as well as the “width for the sleeve” that is comfortable to wear.
  7. After completing the first fitting, you can start finishing the sundress. Leaving only the middle seam of the back swept for further clarification of the volume of the product.
  8. The first "finishing" operations are the processing of the middle upper part of the shelf.
  9. First you need to iron one of the laths, bending two long cuts by 1 cm. Then, step back from the middle seam 1,5 cm in each direction, draw a line and stitch the ironed bar. The thickenings under the bar are cut off, the inside is processed with a second bar - you can simply put it on and fix it with two stitches.
  10. After the bar is finished, it remains to process the remaining seams, except for the middle one along the back, and the upper cut of the sundress. The upper cut is processed with an oblique bar, which it is desirable to duplicate first. Lace straps are placed under the bar, the length and place of fastening of which have already been checked during the fitting.
  11. The shuttlecock is pickled or processed with a rolled seam. You can also use the Moscow seam. Warehouses are laid arbitrarily or assembly is carried out and the gathered edge is turned over.
  12. Sewing ends with a hem hem with an open cut (overcast and fold over once or overcast and stitch lace).
  13. The top cut is decorated with lace.
  14. A second fitting is not required, but is desirable in order to clarify the degree of fit.
  15. After it, the middle seam of the back is ground down and ironed out and the last bartacks are performed.
