2.2. Description of the design of the pattern of a sundress of a trapezoid with a flounce

Sundress silhouette "trapezoid" with a pleat along the front and (for thin fabrics) along the yoke of the back.

The lower part of the sundress is made in the form of a flounce.

The sundress has a length difference - lengthens at the back.

The set includes three pockets from which you can choose the ones you like.

This sundress can be worn over a T-shirt or turtleneck, as well as a sweater. To wear over a sweater, be sure to check the armhole depth and, if necessary, deepen it when trying on. Of course, the summer version of such a sundress can be worn without a T-shirt, like a dress.

3. From what fabric to sew a sundress for winter and summer, what will be the expense

Patterns of a sundress-trapeze with a flounce and a difference photo 2It is desirable to choose from woolen fabrics, avoiding thick and loose ones.

Jacquards, and thin "sandwiches", plaid, denim, suit linen are also suitable.

The consumption will be approximately from 260 to 320 cm, with a width of 150 cm.

For processing armholes, sprout (neck of the back) and other open cuts, you can use an oblique inlay - turning and edging. Consumption from 12 meters.

5. How to cut a sundress of large and small sizes according to ready-made patterns

How to cut a trapezoid sundress with a flounce and a difference according to the finished pattern (fig 2)First, let's deal with the seam allowances (picture 2):

  • 1 cm along the shoulder, side seams, along the bottom of the yoke, back and front, “around” pockets and flaps, along the middle seams of the frill, if it is one-piece;
  • the allowance is not added along the sprout, neck and armholes, along the upper and lower cut of the shuttlecock (when adding length to the shuttlecock, both the flare and the weight of the product will increase).

Now consider the options for cutting individual parts and assemblies.

The only exception will be the entrance to pocket No. 2 - add 3 cm along the cut of the entrance.

The back can be cut in one piece, as shown in 2 drawing - this is a great option for relatively loose and not thin enough fabrics, if the yoke crease can create unwanted thickening at the shoulder.

Accordingly, the back on the yoke with a pleat is only suitable for fairly thin fabrics.

Cutting shelves can have two options - with a slit in front and with a fastener. To cut the shelves without a fastener, we lay the part with a half-slide on the fold of the fabric. For cutting with a fastener - duplicate the middle part of the shelf, including the line of the edge of the board and apply a double to the edge of the board mirror, as shown in 2 drawing.

How to cut a trapezoid sundress with a flounce and a difference according to the finished pattern (fig 3)The pattern of the shuttlecock has countless variations - the pattern can be cut anywhere to save fabric or prevent the shuttlecock from deforming. But we will consider the simplest option for cutting a whole shuttlecock.

In this case, we have either two seams, or a seam in the back and a fastener in front. To make the fastener, we need an “allowance” on the side and on the hem of the side - the edge. The width of the side should be the same as for the shelf - 1,8 cm, and the hem of the side can be arbitrary. For example, 3 or 4 cm.

When the cutting variations are selected, you can start cutting (3 drawing), laying out the parts taking into account the shared direction, but in the most economical way. For pockets, the share line should be parallel to one of the vertical cuts, but they can also be cut along an oblique thread - at your discretion.

6. How to sew a trapezoid sundress with a flounce at home

  1. We start with folds and sides on the shelves and on the shuttlecock. The pick-up can be duplicated with a thin doubler or interlining, and then ironed along the line of the edge of the bead. We grind the folds and iron them. We are not in a hurry to trim the corners that protrude beyond the shoulder sections and along the bottom of the yoke and shelf.
  2. We sew the middle seams immediately. Open sections are overcast or edged.
  3. Shoulder and side cuts are better to sweep away.
  4. We fasten the shuttlecock to the bodice - and you can try on.
  5. The fitting is made on the clothes that you will wear under a sundress - on a T-shirt, turtleneck or sweater. We check the depth of the armhole and the size of the neck. If necessary, we outline new lines of the armhole (one) and the neck (on one side), remove the product, fold it in half along the middle line and cut it off with pins, and then cut the neck and armhole, as needed along the marked lines. We outline pockets by applying patterns to the product. We put on a sundress a second time to check whether all the changes have been made correctly.
  6. We continue by preparing and processing pockets. More precisely, we process the pocket valve No. 1. Pocket #1 can be placed on pocket #2. The valve is in the seam between the shelf and the shuttlecock.
  7. We process the shoulder seams, grind the armholes with an oblique trim (we do not edging, but we grind it!), We grind the side seams.
  8. We process the neck, having previously turned the area of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe sprout with an oblique inlay.
  9. We connect the bodice and the shuttlecock.
  10. We also grind the bottom.
  11. Sew on buttons
