How to cut a trapezoid dress with a flounce according to this pattern

The layout and cutting is very simple. On the 2 drawing on the left, cut from fabrics with a width of 140 - 150 cm, and on the right with a width of 180 - 200 cm.

In any case, the fabric is folded in half, face inward (footer inside out), the edges are combined.

The patterns are laid on the fabric, taking into account the shared direction and, if sewing will be done with an overlock, then without seam allowances.

To process the neck and armholes, you can use cuff knitwear or transverse strips of the main fabric. The width of the "cuff" in the cut can vary from 2 to 7 cm, the length corresponds to the length of the neck and armhole minus a couple of centimeters.

The blanks of the “cuffs” are ironed in half lengthwise and will be sewn on the overlock with a knitted seam along the cuts of the neck and armholes.

Please note that the knit stitch is different from the regular overlock stitch.

How to sew a trapezoid dress with a frill for beginners step by step

Now consider the simplest sequence of sewing a stretch dress with your own hands at home.

1. We start by stitching the shoulder seams with a knitted seam. Under the seam, a transverse strip of thin knitwear or stretch dublerin should be placed. You should not use a special cotton braid that does not stretch at all, as the seam may turn out to be tightened. After stitching the shoulder seams, iron them.
2. Then, sew the “cuff” strip prepared by you, which was mentioned above, to the neck. Iron the seam.
3. See neckline with stretch strip on the example of a dress made of thin knitwear (picture 2 и Photo 2).
4. Stitch the middle seam on an overlock, iron, perform a backtack on the neck by hand or machine.
5. Stitch the "cuffs" to the cuts of the armholes on the overlock, iron the seams and bartack. Stitch the relief of the front and back in the bodice area, iron the seams again.
6. Connect the dress with the flounce, aligning and chipping with pins along the half-skid, along the relief and the control point, add a few more pins for convenience and stitch on the overlock. Iron the seam.
7. The bottom can be hemmed with a backstitch, a double needle, the seam of which looks like a backstitch, or overcast and lay any elastic knit stitch. This is for processing into a hem with an open cut, that is, for a single hem.
