You should start working on this dress by choosing a method for processing the half-relief of the shelf (picture 2), since seam allowances and, consequently, fabric consumption depend on the processing method.

Methods for processing the half-relief of the dress shelf

1. Method one (figure 2a). The relief is ground with a regular seam, the allowances are ironed or ironed and overcast. In this case, allowances for seams along the half-relief are 1 cm.
2. Method two (figure 2b). The relief is processed with a double (French) seam. The seam is ground, the seam width is 0,5 - 0,7 cm, the allowance is trimmed. Then, the seam is ironed out, after that it is ironed “on the edge” and a finishing line is sewn along it, securing the seam in this position. In this case, the raw allowances remain inside the semi-relief seam. The width of the allowance for the seam of the semi-relief is double - 1,5 - 2 cm. It is easy to remember - a double seam and a double allowance.
3. Method Three (figure 2c) will require experience and skills in cutting and sewing. Processing imitation fasteners. For this processing option, it is extremely important to observe the fractional direction of the parts, as well as to qualitatively mark the lines of the semi-relief and the middle line of the warehouses. It is better to mark with threads - a lining stitch and keep this markup until the product is ready. The allowance in this case is performed as a one-sided warehouse. The optimal width of the warehouse at the bottom is 10 cm. Pay attention to the need to undercut during processing. The warehouse is ironed along its midline and its allowance is folded down to the half-skid.

And a very important point: in all three processing options, it is necessary to make a notch on the allowance for the upper point of the semi-relief. On the 2 drawing the point to which the notch should be made is marked with a pointer. The SNAP ON THE STOCK is very important - without it, it is IMPOSSIBLE to process the semi-relief.

How to bat and finish the sleeves in this dress

Regarding the processing of the sleeves and its tucking. There are also options - traditional and designer.

As for the traditional method of stitching in and stitching in the sleeve, in this case, the allowance for the collar of the sleeve is not required and the pattern is made along the bold line.

For the design method, you will need a decorative allowance for the rim. In the drawing, the allowance is indicated by a thin line and the pattern is made taking into account this allowance. This is a more complex processing method, so it is not recommended for beginners.

When basting to make the task easier, a light gathering is done along the top of the sleeve into two strands to distribute the fit. Then, the sleeve is superimposed on the already swept armhole and pricked with tailor's pins. Only then does he rush in. Although in this case, rather, the armhole is tucked into the sleeve.

Seam allowances and dress neckline

So let's move on to the seam allowances. The rest of the allowances do not differ from the allowances for sheath dresses and trapeze dresses. Along the side, shoulder seams, the middle seam of the back, the front and back seams of the sleeve - 1 cm each.

By slice necks, sprout and okat allowances are not added. For the designer sleeve, the allowance has already been added and no additional is needed.

On the bottom of the dress for processing the bottom into a hem with an open cut (fold once) we need 2,5 - 4 cm, for processing the bottom of the sleeve - 2 - 4 cm.

Layouts for cutting

The sequence for sewing a Dolce & Gabbana A-line dress is as follows:
