Instructions on how to sew this dress according to a pattern in the style of a new bow

Sizes 42 to 52 or 52 to 62. All sizes are printed from one file.

This is not the dress pattern for couturier beginners, from which you can choose as the first or second product. This pattern is for those who have mastered well at the initial level, have learned how to knit a sleeve and try on.

The box dress is suitable for almost all types of figures, but fits especially well on girls whose figures combine two different sizes.

For sewing, you can use linen, jeans, jacquard, thick silk, suit wool (it is tougher than dress wool). In a word, any rigid fabric that holds its shape well will do.

The set of patterns includes (picture 1): middle and lateral parts of the back, middle and lateral parts of the shelf, narrowed sleeve with pleats, armsav narrowed with an elbow tuck and pocket burlap.

The lower part of the skirt is a rectangle, so it is not included in the set. Read the pattern description carefully before purchasing a pattern.

The cost of a “box” dress with a skirt length (from waist to bottom) of 50 cm will be from 2,5 m with a width of 1,4 m. “From 2,5 m” because some tailors use a double hem of the bottom with a width of 10-12 cm.

That is, if you sew a dress without soft regilin, then you will have to increase the consumption by 40 - 50 cm for a wide double hem of the skirt.

Since the cutting of this model turns out to be uneconomical, before buying fabric, check the length of the sleeve, the length of the skirt, the method of processing the bottom and lay out the patterns on the fabric.

Do not forget that even on the preliminary layout, allowances for seams should be taken into account, as well as small details - burlap and facings should be placed.

Facing can be immediately cut out of dublerin (picture 2) without seam allowances.

The layout looks somewhat unusual (picture 3), since the bottom of the skirt is a rectangle.

The width of these rectangles is equal to the width of the front details and the width of the back details with seam allowances.

Nowabout how it is marked on the fabric (picture 3).

First, as usual, fold the fabric in half face to face and match the edges. Then, we set up (align) one of the cuts and measure from it the already calculated height of the skirt rectangle, taking into account the hem.

We draw a horizontal line that limits the height of the skirt rectangle, apply shelf patterns to it and add allowances of 1 cm, except for the armhole and neck.

Then we lay the back pattern on the cut in such a way that the lower cut forms a straight line, draw a rectangle of the skirt of the same length as for the shelf and add allowances for the seams.

Allowances are as follows: 1 cm to the relief, side and shoulder, to the middle - 1 - 2 cm, sprout and armhole - without allowance.

We lay the sleeve pattern below or above the rectangle of the skirt. When cutting the sleeves, allowances are added along the front and back seams of 1 cm, and along the bottom - depending on the processing. An allowance is not added along the cut of the eyelet.

Small details are cut out last. First - burlap (you will need 4 pcs.) - we place the pattern on the lunge of the fabric and cut it out without seam allowances.

Our facings are cut out of dublerin, so we immediately glue them on the lunges of the fabric, and then cut them out, adding 1 cm at the stitching points.

We collect the shelf and back by grinding, overcasting and ironing the reliefs of the shoulder seams and side seams. At the same time, we process pockets in the side seams.

The zipper is tacked to the middle seam of the back and the rest of the middle seam is tucked in.

Then, we process the sleeve and perform the fitting. If necessary, adjust the fit at the middle seam and tuck in the sleeve.

After trying on, we process the neckline, stitch the zipper and grind the rest of the middle seam, the bottom of the dress, the bottom of the sleeve ... Done!
