The style of this ethnic dress is suitable for most figures. For owners of wide hips and a narrow shoulder girdle, it is recommended to wear the finished product, opening the shoulders. The pattern of the dress is developed on the basis of the boot cut.

For girls and women with sloping shoulders, especially with a pear-shaped figure, “embroidered dresses with a cut-off with a drop” are not suitable.

Cutting and sewing "embroidered dress from a cut-off with a drop"

As mentioned earlier, when calculating the consumption of fabric, you need to decide on the length of the skirt (Du) and the length of the sleeve (Dr).

The length of the bodice, which depends on how you want to wear the dress - pulling the neckline or opening the shoulders - will be determined during the fitting, so it is better to cut the bodice during the fitting.

You also need to know in advance the processing allowance for the drawstring, based on how many laces or elastic bands you want to put into this drawstring. On average, this allowance will be 2 - 4 cm.

If you are stitching the embroidered shirt with a rubber thread, then 1-2 cm is enough.

Let's say we want to insert only one elastic band, so we add 2 cm “along the top”, we do not add an allowance along the armhole and “raglan”.

Attention, this is not a “real” raglan, but a Sapozhkov cut, but we will call the sections of the sleeve that fit with the armhole conditionally “raglan”.

The remaining allowances - 1 - 1,5 cm each.

Separately, it is worth talking about the assembly along the lower part of the sleeve. Similar assemblies in authentic clothes are made by hand. Assembly allowance 1,5 - 3 cm. First, the sections are overcast, the allowance is folded halfway to the wrong side and ironed, then manual assembly is performed. The assembly is tightened, fixed and the parts of the sleeve are connected manually. The face of the assembly can be hand-stitched with decorative stitching.

But of course, you can just do the usual assembly, stitch the parts of the sleeve, overcast and iron the seam.

That is, the allowance for the seam connecting the parts of the sleeve depends on your idea and the processing method you have chosen.

Now consider in detail the possible cutting options.

For economical use of fabric when cutting small sizes, you can cut in two steps (Fig. 2) - first cut out the back-shelf, then - lay out skirt and sleeve patterns on the fabric.

We start by folding the fabric face inward (this is with any cutting). The edges should be parallel to each other and the edge of the cutting table, and the bodice pattern is laid with a half-slide (middle line) on the fold of the fabric.

The bodice is cut out with the necessary processing allowances (see above).

Then, the fabric is again folded in half face inward, but the edges are aligned. The remaining patterns fit in the most economical way.

Economical cutting for large sizes (Fig. 3) may involve cutting the patterns of the bodice into a shelf and back along the side tuck. The fabric is folded in half face inward, the edges are aligned. Correction of the length of the skirt is made, if necessary, along the upper straight cut.

The “wasteful” cutting option with a fluffy skirt (Fig. 4) practically does not differ from the previous ones.

Now about how to sew.

We start with the "vertical seams" - the middle back or side seams and the seam of the sleeve.

These seams can be sewn, overcast and ironed.

You can also use a backstitch or double stitch.

After processing the "vertical" seams, you should assemble (it is written about the assembly above), sweep in and sew in the sleeves.

Overcast or hem the seam of the armhole.

The simplest drawstrings are made like a hem with a closed cut (double hem), but the line is not completely finished. An elastic band is pulled into the remaining 1 - 1,5 cm.

The tension of the elastic is adjustable on the fitting.
