How to cut a Victoria Beckham straight silhouette swing dress with your own hands

The cutting of this dress, like other dresses with one-piece kimono sleeves, is very simple.

The fabric is folded in half face to face. It is very important to combine the edges without distortion and lay out the cut details in the most economical way (Fig. 2).

Seam allowances 0,7 - 1 cm for shoulder seams, side seams, bottom of the sleeve and seam at the waist of the shelf. 2,5 - 3 cm should be added along the bottom. And along the sprout (the so-called cut of the neck of the back) and along the neck, which in this style forms a drapery of the "rocker" type, allowances are not added. If you add, the length of these curves will change.

The share thread is located along the details, that is, it coincides with the middle line of the back and with the semi-skid of the shelf.

After cutting, do not forget to put notches on the parts while they are still folded in pairs. You will need notches at the level of the hips and a notch on the bodice of the shelf in the place where the neck ("rocker") passes into the shoulder seam. Notches are needed to connect the parts accurately without distortions.

Please note that the neck of this dress is processed in a special way. More precisely, the sprout is processed by turning, while the draped neck of the shelf must be processed with any thin edge seam that will not affect its plasticity. The most suitable seams for this are piping and roll seams (a seam with a rudder).

The cutting of the facing of the sprout is made, as in other models, according to the pattern of the back. The facing is cut out of doubler folded in half without allowances for seams. Dubbing parts, after cutting the main parts, are glued to the remnants of the fabric and cut out with the necessary allowances (Figure 2).

For large sizes, the “jack” layout is suitable (Figure 3).

How to sew a swing dress with your own hands for beginners step by step

1. We start with the processing of the waist cut on the shelf - we grind it, overcast it and iron it or iron it. Then we process the semi-reliefs on the shelf. The lower part of the semi-relief can remain unprocessed, like a soft warehouse.
2. Then we move on to the middle seam of the back. If the dress is sewn from stretch, then the fastener for this dress is not needed and the seam is simply ground down.
