Tailoring difficulty level: simple - a dress pattern for beginner tailors who have mastered tailoring a skirt.

This model, like other dresses with a "sun" skirt and a bodice from a sheath dress, fits most figures and is able to advantageously hide flaws. The silhouette is adjacent. It is also recommended for girls and ladies with different bust and hip sizes.

The set of patterns includes bodice patterns and recess patterns for the "sun" skirt (Fig. 1).

Almost any fabric of the dress assortment is suitable for tailoring, except for highly stretchable stretch, chiffon and cambric. It is undesirable to use a staple - it wrinkles a lot and the skirt will deform during wear and after washing. Chintz, thin denim, thin dress linen and poplin are ideal. If you are sewing a dress for special occasions, then jacquard and velvet on a stable basis will be appropriate.

Consumption depends on the length of the skirt. This dress can go from 2 to 5 meters of fabric. Consumption calculations for different cutting options are described below.

How to cut a white boat dress

When the patterns are printed, the desired size is selected (based on the size of your favorite dress) and the patterns are made, you can start cutting.

We start with the fact that from doubler, folded in half, we cut out the facings of the necks and armholes (Fig. 2). To do this, we circle a fragment of the back and a fragment of the shelf pattern. Trace and cut out WITHOUT seam allowances.

As mentioned above, the expense of a dress with a "sun" skirt will be quite large. If desired and requiredIf you want to save money, this dress can also be cut with a “tatyanka” (Fig. 3) - this is the most economical and easiest cutting option. Fabric consumption is:

Bodice length + Skirt length + 20 cm for processing and allowances

Now, how to cut a "sun" skirt.

Option one: the skirt runs across the width of the fabric (Fig. 4), that is, its length is within 52 - 58 cm.

We fold the fabric in half face to face, combine the edges and place the fold of the fabric parallel to the edge of the table at which the couturier stands.

We measure Du along the fold, apply a recess pattern of the desired size and again measure Du. Having pressed or pinned the notch pattern, we outline it and from the stroke line we set aside the length of the “sun” skirt in different directions. Draw a smooth bottom line.

Then, lay out the patterns of the bodice, add allowances and cut out.

Allowances: 1 - 1,5 cm each for the middle seam of the back, side, shoulder and relief; 3,5 - 4 cm along the bottom and cuts of the neck and armholes remain without allowances.

We glue the dubbing details of the facings onto the remnants of the fabric. It is desirable that the fractional direction be the same for mirror parts. Glue, cut out. Attention! when cut out, add 1 cm allowances to the shoulder, side and middle sections. The rest of the cuts are WITHOUT seam allowances.

Well, if your skirt does not fit into one width of the fabric, this is the second option, you will have to cut it in a turn (Fig. 5).

We lay out the fabric in one layer with the wrong side up, with the edge to the edge of the table and cut out half of the “suns”.a". One. Then, this very half of the “sun” is laid at the other edge in order to cut out the second half.

On the remaining fabric, we lay out the patterns of the bodice, while you can fold the remainder in half by making a fold along the shared thread, that is, parallel to the edge.

After the bodice on the lunges, we glue the dubbing parts, observing the same fractional direction in the mirror patterns.

Yes, and do not forget to cut obliquely at the edges of the skirt (Fig. 6).

How to sew this dress

All New Look dresses have a similar sewing technology.

First, we “collect” the bodice, leaving one side seam stitched only from above.

Then, dom fitting, on which we specify the degree of fit and the position of the line connecting the bodice and skirt.

We process the neck and armholes - the shoulder seams are not connected.

We finish the processing of the bodice (until the moment of attaching the "lightning"), including overedging of cuts and ironing.

And we connect the bodice with the skirt. When connecting, it is important to remember that the side seams of the bodice and skirt should match, despite the fact that the halves of the skirt are the same, and the bodice shelf is wider than the back. That is, the back half of the skirt should be slightly planted.

By connecting the bodice with the skirt, you can sew a zipper.
