How to cut a shirt dress with your own hands

Cutting this style is extremely simple: the fabric is folded in half, the edges are aligned and the patterns are laid out in the most economical way.

For the smallest sizes and for laying out on fabrics with a width greater than 140 cm, we place the patterns of the shirt dress, as shown in fig. 2.

The seam allowances are as follows: on the shoulder, side, "vertical" sections of the sleeve, bottom - 1 cm; no allowances are added along the sprout (neck of the back), neck, armholes and sleeve hem.

Before you cut out a shelf, back and sleeve, you need to determine in the layout the location for the collar and cuffs.

Cuff sizes are calculated based on the circumference of the wrist - Oz:

cuff lengthta \u4d Oz + 2 cm for the fastener + XNUMX cm for the seams

Cuff width = 2 finished cuff width + 2 cm

Thus, the dimensions of the cuff will be from 24 - 30 cm in length and 7 - 12 cm in width.

We will cut out the collar twice, but after the neck is ready for stitching the collar, based on the length of the neck, and not the conventional dimensions.

In this case, the upper collar will lie on the fold of the fabric, and the lower, most likely, to the edges.

When the places in the layout of small parts are determined, you can cut out the back, shelf and sleeve.

From interlining or dublerin, we cut out a cuff rectangle with the dimensions that we need in finished form without seam allowances.

Glue the dubbing of the cuffs onto the remnants of the fabric and cut it out according to the formulas given below.

The layout for medium sizes or large sizes with a fabric width of more than 140 cm is shown in fig. 3. As you can see, both the top and bottom collars are seamless.

We continue by processing the middle seam of the back and shoulder seams. They can be stitched, overcast and ironed. If you are sewing from a thin fabric, for example, shirt calico, then both double and sewing seam.

After that, we grind the sleeve into the armhole WITHOUT wetting.

After sewing in the sleeve, stitch the side and sleeve seam, and then iron it.

At this stage, you can put aside the shirt dress and start making cuffs and a collar.

As mentioned above, the collar is cut along the length of the neck of the product. We measure the neck and make a pattern of the length we need.

Then, from the adhesive interlining or dublerin, we cut out the collar WITHOUT seam allowances EXACTLY according to the pattern - this will be the lower collar.

Seam allowances: 1 cm along the stitching cut and the middle seam, 0,7 cm along the departure.

We cut out the upper collar along the lower collar.
