There are folds on the shelf. The marking of the folds is made on the pattern.

Fabric consumption with a width of 150 cm will be from 270 to 310 cm.

For example, the fabric should not wrinkle too much and should not be hot or cold in it. Therefore, the choice should be stopped on natural fabrics with a small addition of synthetic fibers.

To sew a dress for the New Year or for Christmas, you should choose a fabric from the assortment of dress wool.

Dense dress knitwear with low stretch is also suitable, however, thick and loose fabrics should be avoided.

For example, jersey is not suitable, since it will not be possible to process folds on such knitwear.

Wool and silk blends can be considered a good choice, however, it is quite expensive.

For a summer holiday, you can choose both silk and linen with a small addition of synthetic fibers.

6. How to cut a maxi A-line dress according to a finished pattern

After choosing the size, you should check that the length of the pattern matches your height and desire.

Cutting is not difficult - the fabric is folded in half and the patterns are laid out taking into account the shared direction in the most economical way.

Add 1 cm seam allowance, except for the neck, armholes and sleeves.

We do not add seam allowances to the cuts of armholes, necks and collars and do not ask why.

On the bottom - keep in mind that it will take 2 - 5 cm for processing.

You can add 1 cm allowances to the pocket burlap, or you can not add it - it depends on what size burlap you want to get. To check, put your hand on the burlap.

6.1. How to cut facings for processing the neck?

To process the neck of the shelf, we use a yoke.

For the sprout, we cut out the facing along the pattern of the middle of the back (picture 2). Please note that its width is arbitrary. On the shoulder - about 4 cm, on the middle seam - up to 10 cm for fastening.

We first cut out blanks for turning the neck and sprout from dublerin.

After cutting out the main details, we glue blanks from dublerin onto the remnants of the fabric and cut out a facing and a cocktail with seam allowances on them. The allowances are the same - 1 cm, except for the sprout, the neck and the flying edge of the back facing. Allowances are shown on 2 drawing.

When all the details are cut out, we put all 4 side cuts together and make a notch at the waist level 0,5 cm long. We retreat down from the notch at the waist 6-7 cm and make another notch - this is for the pocket.

In addition to these notches, we need semi-skid notches on the yoke and on the shelf.

6.2. How to cut cuffs?

The cuff is a rectangle.

Cuff length in the cut = Length of the bottom of the sleeve in the cut

The width of the cuff in the cut = the width of the cuff in finished form + 2 cm.

Approximate cutting width - 12 - 14 cm.

7. How to sew a long dress for the holiday with your own hands

First, let's figure out how to process the folds.

The easiest way is using masking tape.

Fold width 2 cm.

We cut off a strip of adhesive tape of the desired length and 1,8 cm wide, draw a line on it, departing from one of the edges of 1 cm, that is, NOT in the middle.

Next, stick the tape in place of the fold, bend along the line, make a line, remove the tape. We iron the crease.

The sewing sequence for the dress is as follows:

1. Pleats, ironing.
2. Connect the shelf with the yoke - sew the yoke and iron the seam up without overcasting.
3. Process the middle seam of the back, leaving a fragment under the fastener unstitched.
4. Process the seam of the back relief.
5. Stitch the burlap pockets along the side seams, make a second notch, overcast and iron.
6. Finish shoulder and side seams.
7. Turn the sprout and the yoke (the lower one, which is instead of turning the neck) overcast along the departure edge. Overcasting on the shoulder sections depends on whether the seams are ironed or ironed.
8. Assemble the sleeve for fitting.
9. On the fitting, you can cut the armhole to fit. Then, put on the sleeve and mark three points of junction with the armhole. After that, roll up the sleeve and try on the dress again. Cut off the length.
10. Stitch the neck.
11. Sew on the sleeve and work on the armhole.
12. Bottom.
