When cutting this model, you should be aware that the length of the sleeve is limited by the width of the fabric. With a fabric width of 150 cm, the sum of Dp + Dr will be about 62 cm. Lack of sleeve length for girls taller than 165 cm can be compensated with a high cuff if the transverse extensibility of the fabric is low.

In addition, note that the top cut of the bottom of the dress (which looks like a skirt pattern for beginners) is located 5 cm above the waist.

Steps and cutting options for this batwing kimono dress

In any cutting option, cutting should be done in two stages:

The first stage is the same in any case - we cut out the bodice by folding the fabric in half and aligning the edges (drawings 2 or 3 depending on the pattern).

The second stage is the lower part of the dress - it can be cut, as mentioned above, with and without a middle seam.

How to sew this dress for beginners step by step

1. We start by processing the undercut: we assemble and grind it like a tuck using a narrow zigzag.
2. After the undercut, we process the middle seam of the bodice and skirt, if the dress has a zipper, then we duplicate the sections of the middle seams under it with a stretch doubler and sweep it.
3. We process the side seams of the skirt and cuffs.
4. Then we process the neck-sprout transverse trim from the same fabric.
5. We carry out the assembly along the lower sections of the shelf and back of the bodice, along the bottom of the sleeve.
6. We connect the bodice with the "skirt" and the bottom of the sleeve with the cuff.
7. The bottom of the dress is recommended to be processed with any elastic decorative seam or stitching.
8. We carry out a fastener "lightning", if it is provided.
