This simple dress pattern for beginners is suitable for summer and other seasons, depending on the fabric chosen.

Using a free pattern, you can quickly sew three summer dresses with your own hands:

1. Asymmetric style, which is shown in the photo above (picture 1).
2. Boho dress with one-piece kimono sleeves (figure 2a), making a cut along the middle lines and using the corresponding half of the pattern for sewing.
3. Sleeveless boho dress (figure 2b) - sleeveless halves. Perhaps this is the simplest dress pattern.

What to sew and fabric consumption

As you can see in the photo, both organza and linen fabrics are suitable for sewing a dress. Of course, chintz, and thin denim, and shirt chintz made of artificial fibers will do.

Thin and soft fabrics like chiffon, cambric or staple are less suitable, since the fabric should keep the shape of a “glass” (“barrel”, “pods” - we call it as you like).

The consumption of fabric for sewing will be 130 - 160 cm with a width of 140 cm.

For cuffs, it is recommended to use welts, strips of knitted or stable fabric, depending on the style.

How to cut and sew a summer dress using a free pattern step by step

First, briefly about cutting. An asymmetric model should be cut by spreading the fabric in one layer, as described under pattern of an asymmetrical dress with a batwing sleeve

For cutting symmetrical models, fold the fabric, as usual, in half.

How to sew dresses on a pattern with your own hands

You can sew a dress with your own hands in different ways:
