By adjusting the length, you can sew not only an ethnic dress with a long sleeve, but also an ethnic blouse with a short or very short one. This cut is also suitable for ordinary T-shirts, which can be sewn from stretch fabric.

Using the same pattern, you can sew simple and beautiful summer dresses for girls in the style of a peasant lady.

The pattern is developed on the basis of the Sapozhkov cut. This is not raglan, as novice home couturiers mistakenly believe.

The difficulty level is simple.

The cut is suitable for all types of children's figures of any height, as it has a free silhouette and it is easy to adjust the length of the sleeve and product on the pattern.

You can sew on household sewing machines without using an overlocker.

Linen fabrics are traditionally used, but chintz, cambric and thin denim will also work.

For summer dresses, muslin (gauze), all kinds of coupon fabrics with a printed pattern or with an embroidered border are also suitable for this free pattern.

Shirt chintz or polka dot staples are great solutions for a children's summer dress.

The consumption of fabric with a width of 150 cm will be from 80 to 120 cm, depending on the length and size of the dress - vyshyvanka.

Please note that embroidered shirts are usually sewn from one piece of fabric for mother and daughter. Before buying fabric, it is recommended to lay out both patterns in order to accurately determine the consumption.

As mentioned above, the pattern is WITHOUT seam allowances, so you will have to add them when laying out the patterns on the fabric.

Before cutting, you have already chosen the size and adjusted the length of the sleeve and the length of the product to the desired one, comparing the sizes of the girl's favorite dress from her wardrobe.

It remains only to lay out the patterns on the fabric, as shown in Fig. 2 - 3.

Side seams and middle back seam, vertical sleeve seams, burlap - 1 cm.

On the bottom - up to 3 cm.

On the top of the dress (the upper part of the sleeve, the shelf and the back are the upper sections), we add as much as necessary to process the drawstring.

If you edging a gathered cut, as mass workers do in cheap products, or if the drawstring is stitched, then the allowance here is minimal. If there is a high drawstring, then the allowance can be both 7 and 10 cm.

The same can be said about the allowance on the bottom of the sleeve - it depends on the processing method that you choose.

Before proceeding with cutting, it is recommended to clearly present the entire processing technology of the product and see video processing the drawstrings of a similar dress

See also how to process the bottom of the sleeve on a drawstring or on an elastic band - the most practical and easiest way (convenient and easy to repair, which is important for children's clothing).

On fig. 2 shows the layout for small sizes. To save money, the lower part of the sleeve is laid at an angle of 90 degrees to the share. This is not quite according to the rules, but for small sizes of children's clothing and to save money, you can give them up a little.

How to cut a children's dress in a folk style according to a finished pattern (Figure 3)On fig. 3 - no deviations from the rules! Approximate size 38 cutting shown.

Cutting is carried out in two stages:

  1. The fabric is folded in half along the width of the front and back (diagram in a bubble). The top of the sleeves and burlap pockets are cut out on the rest of the fabric.
  2. Then, the fabric is folded in half again. Now along the width of the lower part of the sleeve.

This approach saves some material.

When the cutting is done, fold all four side cuts together and apply the pocket burlap approximately in the middle of the cut. Having attached, we perform notches that will limit the entrance to the pocket.

7. How to sew an embroidered dress for a girl.

Sewing a children's dress in a folk style is no different from sewing a similar dress for adults - wherever we can use linen seam

If the sections are edging, then it is recommended to use a home-made oblique inlay made of thin natural batiste.

Before sewing, you have already chosen the methods of processing the top of the dress and the bottom of the sleeve, so we do not stop at them and proceed to the sewing sequence.

  1. Stitch burlap pockets.
  2. We grind the side seams and edging or overcasting.
  3. The middle seam is stitched with a linen seam.
  4. We assemble the upper cut of the lower part of the sleeve and connect it to the upper part of the sleeve. The cut can be edged with the upper part of the sleeve. Stitch the sleeve seam with a linen seam.
  5. We sew the sleeves, remembering that the side seams and the seams of the sleeves should not match. The armhole is edged.
  6. Drawstrings at the top and bottom of the sleeves.
  7. Hem bottom with closed cut - double hem.
