Do-it-yourself boho trapezoid dresses according to the finished pattern

Before cutting this dress, it is extremely important to choose the correct length. Like the choice of sizes, the length is best compared with the finished product, but can be measured by the figure.

To correct the length of the pattern, put the excess in the warehouse in the area marked with hatching and pin it off.

We cut out the facings of the neck and sprout (the neck of the back) according to the patterns of the back and the shelves from dublerin or interlining without seam allowances (picture 2). Later, you will be able to stick these piping blanks on the fabric and cut out the piping blanks already with the necessary seam allowances.

Once again, the sequence for turning: cut out from dublerin without allowances, stick it on the fabric that remained after cutting the shelves and back with the necessary allowances.

For cutting, fold the dublerin in half with the adhesive side inward and circle the upper sections of the shelf and back. The width of the facing in narrow places is 3,5 - 4 cm. Please note that the facings of the neck and armholes are combined for this model.

On the back, you can make a figured cutout in the form of a drop or a heart (figure 2b).

Cutting the dress is not difficult - the “jack” layout (picture 3), the parts are laid out in the most economical way.

How to sew a trapeze dress step by step for beginners

Seam allowances 1 - 1,2 cm - add along the side, shoulder, middle seam of the back and bottom. Allowances for turning (when re-cutting) are the same. The exception is the middle seam of the facing of the shelf - it will also require an allowance of 1 cm. On the tuck - a “house” of 2 cm. Later, the excess can be cut off.

Please note that no seam allowances are added to the neckline and armholes on the front-back and facings.

For those who learn to sew and cut on their own, the question often arises about the need for a middle seam in loose-fitting products. In the boho trapezoid dress model, the middle seam plays two functions - it saves fabric and improves the fit of the back.

A zipper is not required, a small (7 - 10 cm) zip fastener at the top of the middle seam will suffice.

The sewing technique is also very simple. First, the chest tucks and the middle seam of the back are processed. They should be ground and ironed. The allowance of the breast tuck is ironed down. The shoulder and side seams are swept and ironed.

Additional tucks on the bottom are swept and ironed, without cutting out the excess allowance, in order to evaluate their necessity and convenience when walking on the fitting.

After trying on and gluing the dubbing blanks of the facings on the fabric, we cut them out with allowances and grind the facing of the shelf along the midline. Then we process separately the neck and armholes of the shelf, the sprout and the armholes of the back. Overcast the seams. We grind the shoulder and side and iron them again.

In additional darts, we cut off the allowance, leaving 1 cm (whereas in the chest darts, the allowance does not need to be cut). Overcast the allowance and iron the darts.

We overcast the bottom and process it into a hem with an open cut (fold it once). Hem width 1 cm. In addition, the bottom can be edged.
