How to cut a hoodie dress (with a hood) and mittens according to a finished pattern with your own hands

When calculating the fabric consumption, you have already corrected the length of the dress pattern and the length of the sleeve pattern, and decided on the style option.

Seam allowances are not required for sewing a stretch dress.

Let's dwell on the notches, which will facilitate the process of assembling a dress to the floor, cut according to a simple pattern.

On the side seams of the front and back, as well as on the middle seam of the back, notches should be placed at waist and knee level - the lower edge of the length correction area. When grinding parts, these notches must be exactly aligned.

If pockets are planned in the side seams, then notches for them should be made, departing 7-10 cm down from the waist.

When cutting a narrow sleeve, a notch is made at the highest point of the eyelet in order to combine it with the shoulder point when stitching. Of course, such a notch is not required for a non-stop sleeve.

When cutting sleeves with mitts, all notches should be made, which are indicated in the drawing.

For the hood, a notch is important at the junction of the cuts of the half-skid and the cut of the stitching into the neck.

Let me remind you that the semi-skid is the middle line of the product, which corresponds to the middle line of the torso in front, passing through the jugular cavity and the navel.

How to sew a hoodie dress with mitt sleeves on home sewing machines

6. Process the hood. The framing line of the face can be finished with the same overcasting seam as the bottom of the sleeve. If the hood is double, then first the middle seam and the half-skid are sewn and ironed in a narrow zigzag (this seam is thinner than the knitted one), then the face framing line is turned and the folds are laid last. Please note that the folds of the inner and outer hood should not match - lay them in different directions.
7. Sweep and sew in the hood, matching the middle seams of the hood with the middle seam and the neckline. For a thinner seam, first zigzag the top hood, iron the seam, join the neck seam (it is folded down with the inner hood as close to the seam as possible. Sew a wide zigzag stitch or other elastic decorative stitch that your machine has. You can also stitch double needle.
8. It remains to process the bottom. Choice between a narrow overcasting stitch or a hem stitch with an open cut (turn over and hem with a twin needle - looks like a cover stitch).
