Sewing a simple-looking vest will require sewing skills.

For beginner tailors, the facing of armholes and necks, as well as the processing of the neckline, are difficult.

Therefore, the product is assigned an average level of complexity.

Fabric consumption is 100 - 110 cm.

When calculating the consumption, the undercut of parts for processing is taken into account - turning and one-piece selection.

The swatch is sewn from stretch denim with a printed pattern.

Unlike the pattern, there is no curly bottom on the sample. The edges of the cutout on the back are tightened with lacing.

Pay attention to the layout of the details of the vest when cutting (Fig. 1): the selection for the shelf is cut out in one piece.

Normal allowances: armhole-neck - for the stroke line; side, shoulder, reliefs - 1 cm; the bottom of the backrest - 3 cm, the bottom of the shelf (curly) - 0,5 - 1 cm.

Based on the fact that tailoring details are needed for sewing a vest, the sequence of work will be as follows:

We fold the fabric in half, the edges are aligned and are parallel to the edge of the cutting table (Fig. 1).

We cut out the details of the back and the side of the shelf with the necessary allowances.

Experienced tailors can immediately cut out a shelf with a one-piece selection, taking into account the location of the remaining cut details on the lunges.

We make according to the cut out details and the pattern of the middle part of the shelf from the doubler facing and the selection (Fig. 2).

The cut out middle part of the back will serve us for cutting the facing of the sprout (Fig. 2 a).

We use the template of the middle part of the shelf for cutting the edge, taking into account the allowances that we will add when cutting to the very part of the shelf - 1 cm along the shoulder seam and bottom, the edge of the side - beyond the line of the outline of the template (Fig. 2 b).

We cut out the facing for the figured hole according to the pattern for this hole, stepping back from the outer contour of 3,5 - 4 cm.

The contour of the hole itself in the dubbing part is not cut out, but is applied with a pencil or pen, lines of symmetry are also applied.

When the dubbing facings are ready, we lay the shelf with the selection and the facing of the sprout.

We cut them out. Then we cut out the facing of the back cutout - 1 piece (Fig. 1).

Then we process the reliefs, the shoulder seam, the side and the neck. You can immediately process the cutout of the back.

Thus, only the armholes, side seams and bottom of the product will remain.

We fold the vest in half, bending the back along the middle seam (or aligning the edges of the turned neckline) and cleave the product with pins in this position (Fig. 2d).

Especially carefully should be chopped off the sides, reliefs and the middle seam of the back.

Having prepared the vest in this way, pay attention to whether the lengths of the reliefs are the same and whether there are “corners” and “protrusions” along the line of the armhole.

If you find unnecessary "bends", they need to be cut so that the armholes become congruent (the same) and have a smooth outline.

This process is called armhole ripping. The bottom of the shelf can also be ground by rechecking the length of the relief and the congruence of the bottom line.

After basing, without unfolding the product, we cut out a facing for armholes and a figured bottom from doubler.

Of course, if the bottom is straight, as in the photo of the sample, then turning the bottom is not needed.

The facings cut out according to the product are glued onto the lunges of the fabric remaining after cutting.

In conclusion, we process the armhole and the bottom of the shelf with turning. Then we grind the side seam starting from the facing, moving on to the seam itself and to the facing of the shelf and the allowance along the bottom of the back.

Only after that we sweep out the edge of the armhole and sweep the bottom.
