Ustanforging blocks, eyelets and buttons at home has ceased to be a difficult task.

The main thing is to find the right tool.

The most widespread today are manual presses.

Sometimes a punch and a matrix are included in a set of blocks or buttons.

In enterprises, depending on the amount of fittings installed, manual, electric and pneumatic presses are used.

A manual press is more suitable for a tailoring atelier.

A sewing shop can afford an electric press.

Well, a large factory will most likely choose a pneumatic press.

In times when there was no such abundance of equipment, they got out of the situation by ordering a set of punches and dies of different diameters to a familiar turner.

Hardware installation is carried out as follows:

on a small piece of fabric (leather), try installing a couple of blocks (buttons or eyelets).

With a lack of practice, often the first blocks, like the first pancakes, turn out badly.

It is very important, if you plan to install accessories on the side of the product, to take as many layers of fabric and stock as there will be in the product.

The ideal option is to make a piece of the bead for the sample, duplicating it with the same applied materials.

In addition to training, on the sample, a hole of the desired diameter is selected for the fittings (see the example of a jacquard corset).

Rule: on loose fabrics and very thin leather (leather substitute), the holes should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the hardware.

The looser and looser the fabric, the smaller the hole.

If the diameter of the locks or pins of the buttons is very small, then sometimes you can get by with an awl (see the example of trousers with locks on the pockets).

Marking: done on the front side and always symmetrical on both sides (photo of a red corset, see also large photos of this model).

First, vertical lines are drawn with the required indent from the edges of the board, then horizontal lines.

According to the markup, at the intersection of the vertical and horizontal, we punch ONE hole.

Of course, from the front.

We insert the block, turn the product over and insert the inserted block into the matrix.

We press the block with the upper part of the matrix, press it in (here the technology depends on the fittings and equipment).
