3. How to cut a sundress with a flared semi-solar skirt according to a finished pattern

The first point, as in other products, is the choice of size.

You should choose based on the size of the waist. For girls and women with a large lumbar deflection and strongly protruding buttocks, as well as with a large difference between the waist and hips, it is recommended to choose a larger size.

When the waist line on the skirt is selected, select the bottom line based on the desired length.

Please note that it is advisable to choose the size and length of the skirt before purchasing the fabric in order to be able to perform a preliminary layout and accurately calculate the consumption.

Cutting this model of a sundress cannot be called complicated, but it requires thoughtfulness.

Particular attention should be paid to the placement of large parts on the fabric - PP and RF skirts.

3.1. Open half-sun skirts for a sundress in one whole piece

If you cut the skirt in one whole piece, that is, without pockets and without a side seam, then the layout and cutting will be similar to models of a dress with a half-sun skirt.

3.2. Open skirts half sun with a seam for a pattern of large sizes

Consider cutting with a seam, when the width of the PP and ZP does not pass to half the width of the fabric (picture 2).

Such cutting is more convenient to divide into stages.

First, fold the fabric along the bias and cut out the PP skirt. Then, the rest of the details. Please note that it is undesirable to match the side seams of the skirt with the longitudinal or transverse thread, otherwise the side seams may look tight.

Another important point is that it is easier to double the shelf and back than to hem the facings under them. And, if you are sewing a sundress from a thick woolen fabric, for example, from a loden, then the “lower” bodice will have to be cut from the lining fabric.

The lobar shelves coincide with the edge of the side, and the lobar back coincides with the middle line of the back. The share thread of the RFP is along the part and does not require a strict match.

For valance burlap in fabrics with a pattern, it is desirable that the pattern matches the PP pattern.

Seam allowances 1 cm, except for the neck, sprout (back neck). Along the line of entry into the pocket, you can also not add. On cuts "armhole" and on a bottom - at will.

And the largest allowance for the waist cut of the bodice is 3-4 cm. It is needed for the convenience of trying on.

The belt is a strip of fabric. The width calculation is as follows:
Two finished widths + 2 cm.

4. How to sew a sundress with a semi-sun flared skirt with your own hands step by step

The main question when sewing this sundress is where to place the zipper?
There are two options: left side seam or middle back seam.

Step-by-step sequence of sewing a sundress:

1. Process pockets: stitch burlap-turning; cut the allowance and, bending it towards the burlap of the facing, fasten it with a line from the inside; iron with a piping and complete the finishing line; put a burlap-valance and perform bartacks; iron, grind and overcast burlap; iron again.
2. Stitch side seams. If the fastener is in the side seam, then sew on the zipper.
3. While sweeping the middle seam to try on and, if necessary, adjust the skirt to the figure.
4. Assemble the bodice. When assembling the bodice, it should be borne in mind that the folds on the upper bodice are swept and ironed so that after removing the basting, a soft warehouse is obtained. There is a fold on the shelf, it can be processed like a tuck, if there is such a desire. If the zipper is in the middle seam at the back, then the section of the zipper is swept, not ground.
5. When the skirt and bodice are assembled, fitting follows. The skirt is fitted at the middle seam of the RFP, and girls with a large lumbar deflection or strongly protruding buttocks can add darts. We tie the bodice with a linen elastic band and outline the waist, based on the posture. In addition, when trying on, you need to “beat off the length” so that there is no sagging of the bottom of the skirt in some places.
6. After trying on, we process the middle seam. If a zipper is provided, then the seam is processed with a zipper. Then the processing of the belt in the skirt.
7. The bodice is placed under the belt and stitched.
8. Only the bottom of the skirt remains, which is processed into a hem with an open cut (overcast and fold once). You can hem both by machine and by hand.
