How to cut a sundress with an extended skirt according to a finished pattern

Middle" from the "top" fabric on the lining - the best option for heavy and loose sundress fabricsWe begin the preparation of cutting, as usual, with an understanding of the sewing technology.

The simplest processing option is a double bodice (this sewing option is discussed below).

At the same time, all the details of the “lower bodice” or only the details of the bodice of the back and the barrel of the shelf can be cut out of the lining fabric, and the middle part of the bodice can be cut out of the “top” fabric.

A double one-piece detail in the middle of the front of the bodice is the best option for medium thickness and thin fabrics. The "middle" of the "top" fabric on the lining is the best option for heavy and loose fabrics (picture 2).

Let's consider in more detail picture 2.

On the left is a single piece. The share thread in this case can be placed along the half-slide (the middle line of the shelf), but then you have to duplicate the middle of the bodice, and the share dubbing must be parallel to the neckline. Let me remind you that we cut out the dubbing according to the patterns of the same name without seam allowances.

Do-it-yourself layout for a simple sundress patternRight on 2 drawing a one-piece double piece with a shared thread along the neck is shown. Thin suit or dress fabrics can be duplicated in this case from the side of the “lower” shelf.

Seam allowances - standard 1 - 1,2 cm. Exceptions for the armhole, neckline, cut of the waist of the skirt - no allowances, but include the stroke line. On the bottom of the bodice - 3,5 - 4 cm for high-quality fitting, on the bottom of the skirt - 2,5 - 3 cm.

Sample layouts are shown in the figures. 3 и 4.

The lining of the bodice details is cut out according to the already cut out bodice details (not according to the patterns, but according to the details!) Without adding additional allowances.

Burlap is also cut out of the lining fabric.

After cutting, we fold the skirt patterns, combining all four side cuts and make notches for attaching the pocket burlap, stepping back from the waist cut 7-10 cm.

How to sew a sundress with your own hands, taking into account the features of the figure

Sewing a sundress consists of four stages:

  1. Assembly of the bodice for fitting.
  2. Assembling a skirt for fitting.
  3. Fitting.
  4. The connection of the skirt and bodice with the completion of the work.

how to cut a simple sundress with an extended skirt according to a finished pattern 4Now let's take a closer look at each stage.

The first is the assembly of the bodice with a one-piece double shelf:

  1. Duplicate the lower "middle" (picture 2 on the right), iron along the neckline.
  2. We grind both "middles" along the half-slip - we cut and iron the seam through the "upper" and "lower" ones, then iron them from the side of the "lower" "middle". Thus, we get a solid double "center" with a processed neckline.
  3. We sew the “upper” and “lining” “barrel” to the cuts of the “middle” relief, iron the seams. Drying on a mannequin.
  4. We grind and iron the darts of the bodice of the back and the “top” and “lining”. We grind, sweep and iron the middle seam. For the fastener, leave the lower part of the middle seam - 15 - 20 cm unstitched, but swept.
  5. We take lightning.
  6. We grind the sprout (neck of the back) with a lining with a piping from the “upper” back, weave and iron.
  7. We grind the armholes of the shelves and the back with a lining, we sweep the piping from the details of the “top”, iron it. Drying on a mannequin.
  8. Partially remove the notch from the shelf and, turning the shelf inside out, “insert into the shoulder cut” between the “top” and the “lining” the shoulder cut of the back. We grind, turn inside out, lay out the seam allowances and weave out again. We iron, dry.
  9. Sweep side seams.

The second stage is the assembly of the skirt:

  1. The middle and side sections of the skirt can be overcast or edged immediately.
  2. We grind and iron the tucks of the RFP.
  3. We grind the seam of the PP relief to the mark, we notice a soft fold from above.
  4. We grind-sweep the middle seam, leave the area under the zipper with a length of 15 - 18 cm swept.
  5. We sweep the side seams, iron lightly.

The third stage - fitting:

  1. We put on the bodice, tie it with a linen elastic band and outline the waist. Under the elastic, in most cases, there will be an uneven strip, which reflects the features of a particular figure. We outline the waist. If the cut is above the waist, then we outline it by removing the bodice.
  2. Cut off the excess from the bottom, taking into account the seam allowance of 1 - 1,2 cm.
  3. We sweep the bodice with a skirt and try it on again.
  4. We beat off the length of the skirt from the floor.

Stage four is the simplest work completion sequence:

  1. We grind the side seams of the bodice - the “top” and the “lining” with one seam, iron it out, tuck it out.
  2. We sew the burlap of the pockets along the notches to the side cuts, grind and iron the side seams.
  3. We grind the skirt and bodice, iron the seam and overcast.
  4. We sew lightning.
  5. We overcast the bottom, fold, weave, hem, manually or by machine. We iron.
  6. Finishing line.
  7. It remains to remove the notch and perform the finishing ironing.
