Tailoring difficulty level: professional.
The Lolita coat pattern with a cape is not suitable for beginner couturiers. For tailoring this model, professional skills of a tailor of outerwear are required.
For tailoring, you should choose not too thick overcoat fabrics.
In addition to the "top" fabric, you will need lining fabric and doubler.
The fabric consumption of the “top” will be approximately 3,5 - 3,7 m, the lining consumption - 1,7 - 1,9 m (depending on how economical you are), the doubler consumption is 1,2 m. This is the consumption while maintaining the length of the pattern .
As you can see, the model is expensive, therefore, I recommend that you perform layout before buying fabric.
The Lolita coat pattern set includes (Fig. 1):
back middle part (with markings of the middle line and the middle seam),
back side,
side shelf,
shelf cfbottom part (with markings for single-breasted and double-breasted coats),
classic two-seam sleeve (upper and lower half),
cape patterns (back and front with a one-piece selection for a double-breasted and single-breasted cape)
and two collars - turn-down and stand-up.
How to cut a Lolita coat with a cape
Since the pattern is designed only for professional tailors of outerwear, I will briefly dwell on the economic features of cutting this style.
If we consider the back, then on the pattern there is a line of the “economical version of the middle seam” (Fig. 2 a).
If necessary, simply fold the pattern over it before laying out.
You can also cut the backrest pattern along the waist line and lay the pattern fragments separately (Fig. 2 b).
The resulting seam can be masked with a curly valve or a strap.
At the same time, if you leave a flare along the middle seam of the back, it is Important that the cut is located along the bias thread.
Otherwise, only oblique sections will stretch out in the sock and this will spoil the look of the coat.
Significant savings can also be achieved if you sew a coat with a one-piece selection.
And there will be additional savings if the coat is single-breasted (Fig. 2 c-d).
On the pattern of the middle part of the shelf there is a marking for the edge of the side of a single-breasted coat - for medium and large buttons.
With a cape, savings can be achieved by choosing a style with a butt closure (photo of a pink coat and Fig. 2 e).
The pattern for the cape shelf is given with a double-breasted fastener (Fig. 2 e and photo of a black coat).
If you need a cape with a butt fastener, then the extra fragment on the template should simply be placed in the warehouse - the lines for matching are indicated.
And finally, about saving, which I do not recommend.
Pay attention to the pattern of the back of the cape (Fig. 1, 3): it shows the share direction of the thread.
If you succumb to the temptation and cut out a cape without an “oblique” middle seam along the back, then in the sock it will stretch out on your shoulders, and remain short in the back.
The same can be said about the back, in which the middle seam coincides with the shared thread - for this style, the rule should be broken.
As can be seen from the layout, the cut turns out to be very uneconomical and the longer the coat, the larger the lunge area.
Keep this thesis in mind if you want to save money.
