How to make an appliqué out of felt

But you can start by decorating an already finished product with appliqué.

After all, in order to complete the application, you do not need such serious skills as for sewing clothes with your own hands.

It all started when I saw photos of one of the Prada collections.

The cat in burdocks really sunk into my soul.

I had to buy a set of felt, embroider a cat and plunge into the creative process.

At first I figured out what fragments of my application could be.

I covered the embroidered cat with polyethylene and drew burdocks with roses with a marker.

Then I chose felt of cheerful colors and cut out blanks.

At first I drew directly on the felt. I had to draw from the inside, as I did not buy a disappearing marker.

The finished blanks were glued together with ordinary Moment glue.

I did not glue it very tightly, pointwise, since all sections will be stitched. Once the glue was dry, I started stitching.

I installed the foot used for free stitching - it is well suited for applications of complex shapes.

I set the tortoise speed and selected the appliqué stitch recommended by the manufacturer of my sewing machine.

But I didn’t like this stitch and went back to the well-tried “good old” medium-width zigzag.

When, I connected all the motives, I had to raise the paw on the turns. A knee lifter would be useful to raise the foot.

There were also experiments with threads. First I tried threads in the color of the application, and then monofilament - fishing line. I liked the monofilament more, but there were doubts that it would melt during ironing.

I had to try to dispel my doubts. Monofilament survived!
