Lolita coat pattern 40-64 look2Sewing difficulty level: professional, this pattern is not recommended for beginners.

This style of down coat suits most types of figures of various fullness and height.

The consumption of the "top" fabric is, depending on the size, 410 - 480 cm with a width of 140 cm and while maintaining the length of the finished down jacket pattern. The amount of lining fabric is the same. The consumption of an insulating pad depends on the width (there are pads 150 cm and 220 cm wide) and on the number of layers.

Only raincoat fabrics with special windproof properties are suitable for sewing a lolita down jacket. There are no special requirements for the lining fabric, except for slip. As a warming pad, you can use a synthetic winterizer, holofiber or alpolux.

The set of patterns for a down jacket "Lolita" includes (picture 1):

How to cut and sew a lolita down jacket at home

Lolita coat pattern 40-64 pic3The technology of cutting and sewing a lolita down jacket is in many ways similar to sewing down jacket trapeze, although there are differences

Do not forget that the sequence of operations for individual tailoring of a “down jacket” at home is somewhat different from the sequence of mass sewing. And due to the high consumption of fabric, this model will require quite serious preparatory work from the home couturier to clarify the length of the patterns.

Lolita coat pattern 40-64 pic4It's importantPlease note that the length of the down jacket and especially the length of its sleeve depends on the height of the shoulder pad and on the thickness of the insulation pad. The size of the finished pattern, of course, is also selected taking into account the thickness of the insulation.

Seriously, it is worth approaching the implementation of preliminary layouts of patterns in order to reduce fabric consumption.

Lolita coat pattern 40-64 pic5When the size and length of the down jacket pattern are selected, you can proceed to cutting the “top” fabric.

As you know, when cutting the “top” fabric for a down jacket, seam allowances are added taking into account the deformation and the subsequent obligatory adjustment of the details after the stitching. The larger the area of the part and the denser the stitch, the greater the possible deformation.

Approximate seam allowances are as follows:

Side, shoulder, embossed cuts, half-skid (middle line of the shelf and zipper stitching cut), front and elbow cuts of the sleeve, cuts of the hood, cuts of the collar - will require an allowance of 1,5 - 2,5 cm. 0,7 - 1,5 cm. On the bottom of the sleeve - 5 - 6 cm. On the bottom of the product 5 - 8 cm.

Opening the "top" of the lolita down jacket has some more features. For example, while maintaining the length of the pattern, the fabric will have to be folded in half so that the fold of the fabric is obtained along the transverse thread (Fig. 2-3). If you have shortened or narrowed the pattern to reduce fabric consumption, then it is advisable to fold the fabric across only if this will reduce consumption and lunge area.

Lolita coat pattern 40-64 photo1On the 2 drawing the layout is shown for conditionally small sizes - from the 40th to the 52nd, on 3 drawing - for conditionally large ones - from the 52nd to the 64th, if the length of the finished down jacket pattern is saved.

After cutting the “top”, you can proceed to cutting the insulation, which is cut out along the quilted details of the “top”. At the same time, the insulation should protrude beyond the details of the "top" by 1,5 - 2,5 cm.

Having finished cutting the insulation, you should connect the details of the "top" and the insulation in any temporary way. These can be tailor's pins or large (7 - 10 cm) oblique stitches (drawings 4 и 5). The line of tattoos or basting should be 3-5 cm from the edge.

After that, you can mark and stitch, and then base the details of the top according to the same patterns that you used to cut, leaving technological allowances for the seams. True, at this stage, a nuance also arises with the stitch of the “skirt”.

If additional "ribs" are needed, then in the place where the "ribs" line will be, it is advisable to remove the insulation. This is achieved by a simple cut on the insulating gasket in the place of the line corresponding to the "rib".

"Ribs" at the seams - you can cut off the excess after basting the "top" on the insulation immediately before the stitch (picture 4).

If the "ribs" are not needed, then it is better if the insulation standardly protrudes beyond the "top" part by 1 - 1,5 cm (picture 5). This will provide comfortable stitching.

After completing the stitch, the sequence of cutting and sewing the down jacket is as follows.

According to the quilted and trimmed details of the “top” (basing according to the patterns, taking into account technological allowances), the lining is also cut out with allowances of 1,5 - 2,5 cm, and already according to the details of the lining, we cut out the insulation for the lining, again adding allowances for lining and stitching.

After stitching the lining, we also fix it. We do this according to the “top” blanks, and not according to the patterns, which makes it possible not to add seam allowances, since the necessary seam allowances have already been added to the “top” blanks.

Further, it’s a matter of technology - we collect the “top” and the lining separately, we connect them in the same way as in a regular down jacket.
