For tailoring, you can use any coat fabrics. For example, fine-woven drape (semi-drape), cashmere, diagonal or tweed.

You need to be careful with pile fabrics. Definitely not suitable velveteen and velvet.

But the drape, which has a pile, will look good in this product.

How to cut a coat

We begin our acquaintance with the technique of cutting this coat with allowances for seams, lobes and notches (Fig. 2).

As in other products, we cut out the sprout, neck, armhole and sleeve hem without seam allowances.

We do not add an allowance along the edge of the selection, which in this case is one-piece with shelf details.

This approach to the cut of the pick-up will save us time for processing and improve the quality of sewing.

At the waist, add 3 cm to determine exactly the line connecting the bodice and the "skirt".

But after trying on, the excess will have to be cut off, since the seam with such a large allowance will turn out to be very thick.

At the bottom of the coat and sleeves, add no more than 3 cm.

The remaining allowances - 1 cm.

Please note that when making patterns and when cutting, you will have to make notches that limit warehouses, notches along the half-skid line (the middle line of the shelf) and along the edge of the bead.

And the fractional parts of the shelf should clearly coincide with the semi-skid.

The proportion of the back details is strictly perpendicular to the cut of the waist. Please note that in the "skirt" the share line coincides with the middle line, and in the bodice the middle seam is oblique and the share line does not coincide with it.

The share thread of the sleeve is located along the part. The only seam is the elbow. When tucking in, you should be guided by the highest point of the eye.

As for soft folds, the fold on the bodice is opposite and it is desirable to sweep its base, and then grind it.

The warehouse on the "skirt" is one-sided, but its "solution" is folded twice, while the lines of the warehouses are combined. This warehouse is swept with large cross stitches at the waist cut.

Now about dubbing (Fig. 3 - 5).

If the coat is lined (Fig. 3 - 4), then in addition to the pick-ups, allowances for the bottom of the product and the sleeve, you can also duplicate the upper part of the bodice.

At the same time, the details of the bodice are duplicated, as usual, to the level of the shoulder blades or slightly lower, but in the shelf, only fragments at the armhole and neck can be duplicated.

In other words, the warehouse should not fall under dubbing. The zigzag is needed so that the dubbing details do not beat off on the face.

In a coat without lining (Fig. 5), only the selection and allowances along the bottom of the product and sleeves are duplicated.

Of course, the back can be cut out uncut at the waist; for this, the parts of the back can be combined by gluing them end-to-end with adhesive tape.

We cut out the facing of the sprout, as in other products, according to the pattern of the back, commensurate the width of the facing with the width of the selection.

And one more important detail: dubbing details along the bottom of the shelf and sleeves are transverse strips of dublerin. When gluing them to the allowance, the allowance should be pulled back.

Layouts.

Due to the one-piece selection of the shelf, the fabric cannot be folded lengthwise.

Lint-free fabrics (Fig. 3) should be folded across the cut, aligning the edges. Patterns decomposed in the most economical way.

A fabric with a pile should be cut in a turn (Fig. 4), laying out the patterns in such a way that the direction of the pile in all details is the same.

It is better to cut the lining according to the product after trying it on, when the back and shelves are processed.

For trying on, as well as when sewing other coat models, you should prepare an epaulette-type shoulder pad.
