The slot is only one of the elements that stands between the novice couturier and his success.
In this video tutorial on sewing, we will consider only one type of slots, which is suitable for such thin fabrics as chiffon...
First, I glue rectangular blanks of adhesive interlining measuring 25 by 12 cm on the wrong side of the fabric.
And then - I cut out NOT adding allowances for the seams.
The allowances have already been taken into account by me and included in the dimensions of the adhesive interlining.
After all, my blouse is made of thin chiffon.
But if I sewed a blouse from a denser fabric, for example, from satin, then it would not be worth duplicating the allowances or seams.
When the cuff blanks are cut out, I bend one of the sides, the long side, by 1 cm and iron in this position.
After that, I fold the cuffs along the midline. Attention! along the midline WITHOUT taking into account the bent centimeter on one side and grind the ends of one cuff, and then the other.
After grinding, I cut off the corners and turn it inside out!
It remains only to iron.

It is impossible not to say that such a slot-slit is suitable for cuffs of any shape, both in blouses and dresses.

and how to make at home bias binding for edging.
Please note that such a slot can have not only the shape of a cut, but also the shape of a “drop”. And the “drop” can be turned over already with the help of devices.
For work on household sewing machines, two types of binders can be recommended.
The first is on an adapter, thanks to which it is suitable for almost all sewing machines, but it is more convenient to work on it if the machine has a needle position adjustment.
Watch the video tutorial and read the article on this topic, you can follow the link.
The second type - the binder-foot - is suitable for almost all machines in which the foot is changed by pressing the lever behind the foot holder. For beginner couturier, it will be much more convenient.
