The pattern is designed on a stretch basis for a dress.

No bust darts.

The shoulder is “lowered”, like a short one-piece sleeve of the “kimono” type.

The skirt of the dress is slightly tapered towards the bottom.

The dress has two ties, allowing to some extent to change the volume of the product. Due to the ability to adjust the size of the dress in the waist area, this model is suitable for pregnant women.

3.1. What to sew a summer dress from - a T-shirt or a sheath dress

Between a dress - a T-shirt and a dress - a sheath, the difference is only in the choice of fabric.

If we sew T-shirts from cooler fabric, then we sew cases from dress fabric. Of course, the case in this case, the name is conditional.

In any case, you should choose a thin fabric with medium stretch.

The cooler consumption (fabric for T-shirts) will be 150 cm with a width of 180 cm.

Stretch fabric consumption - 220 cm, with a width of 140 cm.

4. How to cut a summer dress - a T-shirt or a sheath dress - according to the finished pattern

Before cutting, it is important to determine the length of the dress. In this design, the length can only be measured from the waist to the bottom.

We compare the length of the skirt of the dress with the desired length and adjust the pattern if necessary.

If you add 2 - 3 cm to the desired length, then the hem allowance is not needed.

This approach is convenient, since seam allowances are not required when cutting stretch.

We lay out the fabric in one layer.

On the 2 drawing shows the cutting of a dress made of cooler fabric, and on 3 drawing - from stretch.

After cutting, you need to make undercuts according to the pattern - a straight cut to the top of the undercut. The length of all undercuts must be the same.

Notch the side seam at waist level on the non-tie side. Notch length 0,3 cm.

5. How to sew a dress - a T-shirt (case) at home

We start, as usual, by adjusting the knitted seam on the overlock.

Please note that the knitted seam is only similar to the overcasting, as it has a "bar-tack".

How to set up an overlocker for sewing stretch fabrics

In addition to the overlock, you will need a narrow zigzag for sewing the tie. It also needs to be configured. For processing (in the hem) of the bottom, you can use a double needle, as an imitation of the seam of the cover.

Once you have mastered the overlock and zigzag settings, sewing becomes very easy.

1. We start with the processing of the ties. To do this, fold the details of the shelf and back in half. The fold should run from the notch at the waist to the most protruding point of the tie (picture 4).
2. Having folded the back and front, stitch the ties in a zigzag stitch, circling the line around the undercut, as shown in 5 drawing. At the beginning and at the end of the line - bartacks. After that, twist and iron the ties. Fragments of the seam in the undercut area can be overcast on the overlock.
3. Stitch one of the shoulder seams with a knitted seam, placing a lobar strip under it. stretch with a width of 1,5 cm. This treatment will stabilize the seam, but the seam will not seem tight. Iron the stitched shoulder seam.
4. Along the length of the neckline and the length of the armholes, cut out transverse strips 3–3,5 cm wide. Iron them in half lengthwise. These are blanks of knitted trim for processing armholes and necks.
5. Stitch the inlay blank on the overlock to the cut of the neck, putting it on the “face” of the product. Iron the seam.
6. Work the second shoulder seam in the same way as the first, bartack at the neckline. Iron.
7. Treat the armholes in the same way as the neck, iron.
8. Sew the side seams on an overlocker.
9. Open hem hem - overcast and fold once. The stitch to secure the hem can be sewn with a wide zigzag, or with other elastic decorative stitches or with a twin needle.
