Features of a do-it-yourself pattern of a raglan hoodie dress

There is no need to add seam allowances when cutting this dress, since the allowance for a loose fit across the chest is 10 cm.

Before cutting, it is very important to check the length of the sleeve pattern with the desired length.

To do this, you can use your favorite large-volume jacket or measure the length of the sleeve according to the figure from the side point of the neck over the shoulder and along the bent elbow to the wrist.

It also does not hurt to check the width of your favorite jacket with the pattern in order to choose the size of the volume you need.

Cutting, to save fabric, it is better to do it in two stages (picture 2):

1. First, cut out the shelf and back.
2. Then the rest of the details.

To cut the front and back, fold the fabric in half, making a fold separately for the front and a separate fold for the back (see diagram in the bubble on 2 drawing), resulting in two folds.

If you fold the fabric in this way, you can avoid the seam on the back.

We do not add seam allowances, but if you want to keep the length, add a hem - 2,5 - 3 cm.

Then, fold the rest of the fabric in half, aligning the edges, and lay out the rest of the details - the sleeve, hood and burlap.

Pay attention to the shared thread of the hood - the lower one can be cut out arbitrarily, the upper one - as shown in 2 drawing.

The number of parts is as follows: 4 hood sides and 2 middle parts, 4 burlap pockets.

How to sew a raglan dress with a hood step by step

1. We start sewing a raglan hoodie dress by assembling the hood.
2. We grind the lower hood with a knitted seam, then the upper hood.
3. The stitching seams should be ironed and only after that both hoods should be joined along the face framing line in a narrow zigzag.
4. Please note that in order to obtain a quality product, the stitching seam must be knitted with a backtack, and not overcast. In this matter, you should not follow the market standards.
5. The hood sewn in this way is turned inside out, the seam of the face framing is swept out, ironed and secured with a finishing line or a line for a drawstring.
6. But for the drawstring, before sewing the seam, you need to sew two loops 1 - 1,2 cm long in order to insert the lace later.

Assembling the dress

1. We start the assembly by determining the height of the pockets: put together all 4 side cuts and measure down from the highest point of 25 - 30 cm, depending on height and desire, and having measured, we make a notch 0,5 cm long.
2. We apply burlap to the notch with a cut of the entrance to the pocket and make a second notch.
3. According to the notches obtained, we sew all four burlaps on the overlock, carefully iron the stitching seams and grind the side seams also on the overlock.
4. Then, we grind the seams of the sleeves with the same knitted seam.
5. We iron the stitching seams very carefully, sew in the sleeves and iron the seam.
6. The raglan seam can be reinforced with a finishing stitch.
7. Next, we knit and stitch the hood.
8. For successful stitching, you need to outline the middle lines of the back and shelves (semi-skid), chop them off with the middle lines of the hood and only after that lash it in, sew it in with a narrow zigzag, followed by overcasting or a knitted seam.
9. The seam for inserting the hood should be ironed and can be secured with a finishing stitch.
10. In the end, we process the bottom. The easiest way is to overcast the bottom with a knit stitch.
