How to cut and sew this straight raglan dress for beginners

Obviously, sewing a raglan dress is simplified by the fact that the sleeve does not need to be tucked in.

Cutting is also not difficult and is possible in two variations - with and without a middle seam on the back.

The share direction of the details is determined as follows: the share thread of the back is perpendicular to the bottom, the share of the shelf is parallel to the semi-skid (this is the middle line of the shelf), and the share of the sleeve is along the upper and lower points of the front seam.

By the way, PP is the front half of the sleeve pattern, ZP is the back.

Open dresses with a middle seam on the back

If you need a model with a middle seam on the back:

1. Fold the fabric in half along the width of the front and back with allowances for the seams (Fig. 2).
2. Scheme of folding the fabric at the bottom of the picture in the bubble.
3. Place the sleeve in the most economical way.
4. The seam allowances are as follows:
   1. On the bottom - 2,5 - 3 cm;
   2. We do not add along the neck - without allowance;
   3. To the remaining sections 1 - 1,5 cm.
5. We add “houses” allowances to the tucks and limit them with notches.

Why don't we add a seam allowance along the neckline, you ask. If we add, then the neck will become shorter.

How to cut without a seam on the back of a dress

If the seam on the back is not needed, then cutting is more economical and is carried out in two stages (Fig. 3):

1. Stage one:
   1. We fold the fabric for the back along the width of the pattern of the back of the dress with allowances, observing the fractional direction, the edge is parallel to the fold of the fabric.
   2. We fold the fabric for the shelf along the width of the shelf with allowances in the same way.
   3. We cut out the back and shelf with seam allowances.
2. Stage two:
   1. We fold the fabric for the sleeve, combining the edges.
   2. We cut out with the necessary allowances.

How to sew a dress with a raglan sleeve according to this pattern

Sewing such a dress, as mentioned earlier, will not seem difficult even for novice fashion designers:

1. First we grind and iron the tucks.
2. Then we grind and iron the seams.
3. If a zipper is provided in the middle seam of the back, then we grind only the lower fragment of this seam and baste the zipper.
