Cutting and sewing "cut-off dress without top with reliefs"

Before you start cutting, choose the length of the skirt you need and the appropriate length of the sleeve (short, 3/4 or long).

Cutting from stretch fabrics, if you plan to sew a dress with a knitted seam, is quite simple - you do not need any allowances for seams, except for the bottom of the skirt and along the top cut of the bodice.

But the "traditional" approach will require adding allowances to all cuts, except for the waist skirt, sleeve hem and armholes (Fig. 2).

Tall girls (from 170 cm) should add an additional allowance for the bottom of the bodice of 3-4 cm, in order to lengthen it if necessary during the fitting.

Pay attention to the direction of the grain thread of the RFP (back half) of the skirt - the middle seam has a bevel.

As for sewing, the product can be assembled in different sequences.

First: a bodice with a belt, then a skirt and a connection between the bodice and the skirt.

The second sequence: collect the shelf “from top to bottom”, collect the back and connect along the side seams, and finally sew in the sleeve.

Facing for processing the upper cut of the bodice is not required, since it is processed into a hem with an open cut - swept over, bent once and hemmed. The bottom of the skirt is processed in the same way.

Please note that when sewing tight jerseys with little stretch, the bottom can be finished as knitted, for example, with a cover (flat) seam or as in stable fabrics.

Of course, neoprene can not be processed at all.

If desired, you can put an elastic band into the hem of the upper cut, but in the vast majority of cases this is not required, since such dresses “creep” up.
