One of the most difficult moments is filling the cover seam. This is not about threading, since all the schemes are drawn in detail and placed directly on the typewriter itself under the cover (see at the end of the article and the guide that should be bypassed). The point is the sequential replacement of spare parts, concomitant refueling.

Of course, there are different brands of overlocks and coverlocks, but the simplicity and ease of use (including refilling), as a rule, significantly increases the price of equipment.

Let's explore this issue a little more with a couple of examples.

Juki MO 735 - the machine shown in this video. She "knows how" to do 2, 3, 4, 5-thread Overlock stitches, roll stitch (rolled stitch), knit stitch (the one I recommend for sewing knitwear), chain stitch and of course flat stitch (cover stitches). The total number of stitches is 16, the price is about 450 - 470 dollars.
Baby Lock BLE8W-2 - a dream machine worth $ 5. It has 700 lines in its arsenal and a decent speed for household overlockers - 58 engine revolutions per minute, but ridiculous in comparison with industrial equipment. The threading of the loopers is fully automatic, the tension setting when switching from one fabric is also in the machine.

Everything is great, except for the price and reliability ...

Immediately there is a desire to replace this miracle "Baby Lock" with something cheaper.

And now for comparison: the price of industrial overlockers ranges from $ 370 to $ 470, depending on the brand and purpose (6 engine revolutions per minute), and the price of an industrial cover stitch machine with a binder is approximately $ 000 and gives 670 engine revolutions per minute. minute.

And two intermediate widely advertised household variants of the coverlock from Bernina and Pfaf.

Bernina 1300 MDC - 24 lines and a price of about 3 dollars.
Pfaff Coverlock 4.0 - can do 25 lines and costs $100 more than Bernina. Declared sewing speed: 1100 revolutions.

It’s not difficult to draw conclusions, especially if you don’t listen to the outright lies of sellers that household carpet locks are actually “semi-industrial” and “take jeans” ...
