Features of cutting a sheath dress or qipao blouse according to this finished pattern

Cut the qipao sheath dress according to the finished pattern with your own handsBefore cutting a qipao, it is worth understanding the features of the cut of this asymmetrical style.

Pay attention to the fact that the shelf and the yoke are cut out in a turn in one piece. The rest of the details - the back, sleeve and collar are paired.

Facing for fasteners qipao are cut out according to the same patterns as the shelf and yoke.

Seam allowances when cutting a qipao dress

The seam allowances are the same as in a regular sheath dress, but let's look at them in more detail.

Side seams, front and back seams of the sleeve - 1 cm.

Sleeve hem, sprout, neckline, armhole, shelf closure line, qipao yoke flyaway line - without seam allowances.

Above the darts there is a “house” allowance, and the solution of the darts is limited to notches. On the yoke, it is better not to close the tuck, but not because of the fit of the dress to the figure, but in order to use the seal on the tuck when processing the fastener.

This is an important point, since qipao are sewn from expensive silk fabrics and are subjected to the greatest wear in the area of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe fastener.

On the bottom we add an allowance of 3 - 4 cm, depending on the method of processing - with an open or closed cut, respectively.

How to cut a qipao dress with your own hands step by step

  1. Cutting dresses is best done in two stages (picture 2).
  2. We start by folding the fabric in half along the width of the back with allowances for the seams.
  3. We determine the share thread of the back along the middle line or, even more simply, along the bottom - it must be strictly perpendicular to the share thread.
  4. Patterns for piping when sewing a qipao sheath dress with your own handsThe back, if we cut out a qipao dress of an adjacent silhouette with a seam, and if we do not need a fit, then we apply the pattern with the middle line to the fold of the fabric.
  5. We lay the shelf on one layer of fabric, the share should coincide with the half-slip (the middle line of the shelf). In order not to be mistaken, we measure the distance from the half-skid to the edge in several places.
  6. Please note that in geometry, two pairs of points are enough to check the parallelism of the lines, but in sewing from silk fabrics, it is better to use three or four pairs.
  7. When you have finished cutting the back and front, fold the rest of the piece of fabric in half along the width of the sleeve. The share should be along the sleeve or it can be cut "along the oblique".
  8. We place the qipao yoke in the most economical way, but it is desirable that the shoulder cut does not fall on the lobar or transverse thread.
  9. Details of the stand (upper and lower), if it is an individual tailoring, it is better to cut out after trying on, since the length of the collar should correspond to the length of the neck of the product.
  10. Photo of a tailored short sleeve qipao sheath dressTurning, as usual, we cut out from dublerin without allowances for seams according to the same patterns as the shelf and yoke (picture 3) or according to the details of the cut after processing the tuck. It is important here not to turn them over, since we need the facings in one copy.
  11. Then, we glue the details of the dubbing onto the remnants of the fabric, closing the tuck and adding allowances along the shoulder and side seams.
  12. Don't forget to make notches along the half-slip on the neckline and mark the alignment line on the yoke.

How to sew a qipao dress for beginners in detail and step by step

  1. We start with processing (grinding and carefully ironing) all the darts and the middle seam of the back.
  2. Then, we process the yoke and the shelf in the fastener area with turnings.
  3. The yoke can simply be turned over, as the neck is turned, but the shelf can either be turned with a piping, or edged over, folded together with the turning.
  4. See sewing video tutorial on how to edging a cut with an oblique trim made without tools at home
  5. A small fragment of the fastener on the shelf is folded over, then the shoulder and side seams are folded and lightly ironed.
  6. Since the zipper should be located in the left side seam, we first sweep it completely, but with bartacks at the beginning and end of the zipper.
  7. We iron out, remove the basting on the section of the zipper and tack on the zipper braid.
  8. It is also desirable to process the sleeve so that you can specify its length during the fitting.
  9. Now you can sample.
  10. At the fitting, our task will be not only fitting, but also, possibly, trimming the armholes.
  11. See, how to cut armholes for a dress of an adjacent silhouette and other types of clothing
  12. It also does not hurt to clarify the neckline, sleeve length and the entire product.
  13. After trying on, we process the shoulder and side seams, stitch the zipper.
  14. See video tutorial on sewing a dress - how to sew a hidden zipper using the foot that comes with the machine.
  15. And, how to sew a zipper without first basting with a special foot for hidden zipperswhich, unfortunately, is not included with the purchase of the machine.
  16. But you should know that “there are in nature” similar paws, both for household and industrial machines.
  17. Next, you can process the bottom. You should have already decided on how to process the bottom before you started cutting the dress.
  18. And now, watch the video tutorial on sewing a dress on processing the bottom in various ways
  19. We complete the sewing of the dress by stitching in and sewing in the sleeve and stand collar.
