Before cutting a qipao, it is worth understanding the features of the cut of this asymmetrical style.

How to cut a qipao dress with your own hands step by step

1. Cutting dresses is best done in two stages (picture 2).
2. We start by folding the fabric in half along the width of the back with allowances for the seams.
3. We determine the share thread of the back along the middle line or, even more simply, along the bottom - it must be strictly perpendicular to the share thread.
4. The back, if we cut out a qipao dress of an adjacent silhouette with a seam, and if we do not need a fit, then we apply the pattern with the middle line to the fold of the fabric.
5. We lay the shelf on one layer of fabric, the share should coincide with the half-slip (the middle line of the shelf). In order not to be mistaken, we measure the distance from the half-skid to the edge in several places.
6. Please note that in geometry, two pairs of points are enough to check the parallelism of the lines, but in sewing from silk fabrics, it is better to use three or four pairs.
7. When you have finished cutting the back and front, fold the rest of the piece of fabric in half along the width of the sleeve. The share should be along the sleeve or it can be cut "along the oblique".
8. We place the qipao yoke in the most economical way, but it is desirable that the shoulder cut does not fall on the lobar or transverse thread.
9. Details of the stand (upper and lower), if it is an individual tailoring, it is better to cut out after trying on, since the length of the collar should correspond to the length of the neck of the product.
10. Turning, as usual, we cut out from dublerin without allowances for seams according to the same patterns as the shelf and yoke (picture 3) or according to the details of the cut after processing the tuck. It is important here not to turn them over, since we need the facings in one copy.
11. Then, we glue the details of the dubbing onto the remnants of the fabric, closing the tuck and adding allowances along the shoulder and side seams.
12. Don't forget to make notches along the half-slip on the neckline and mark the alignment line on the yoke.

How to sew a qipao dress for beginners in detail and step by step

1. We start with processing (grinding and carefully ironing) all the darts and the middle seam of the back.
2. Then, we process the yoke and the shelf in the fastener area with turnings.
3. The yoke can simply be turned over, as the neck is turned, but the shelf can either be turned with a piping, or edged over, folded together with the turning.
