  1. Back - back yoke and back (large lower part with a slot).
  2. Shelf - shelf coquette with a one-piece selection; the shelf is the middle part and the shelf is the lower part on the right.
  3. Non-stop sleeve with length markings for long, short and 3/4 sleeves.
  4. Collars - turn-down and collar on the rack "shirt".
  5. Pocket burlap that can be used for both a side seam pocket and a leaflet pocket (leaflet - only suitable for experienced tailors who can confidently sew a welt pocket).
  6. Tape for sleeves.

2.2. Description of the design of the oversized dress pattern cocoon - shirt on the yoke

Drawing patterns that are printed from the PDF file of the patternThis dress is made like a trapeze, but thanks to the soft folds at the bottom, its silhouette approaches the oval "cocoon".

This dress is easy to adjust to any features of the figure and to any size of the bust due to the coquettes. And because of the soft folds along the yoke line of the front and the large increase in free fit, this pattern is suitable for full and very full, as well as for pregnant women or women prone to weight fluctuations.

Pg for sizes 40-52 is 7 cm, and for sizes 52-64 is 10 cm.

The yoke of the shelf with a one-piece selection allows you to reduce processing time and improve its quality.

Non-stop sleeve - provides easy stitching of the sleeve without tucking in and even without trying on, if this is not possible for any reason.

Dress pattern for full cocoons - shirt on a yoke photo 3The kit includes two types of collars - with and without a stand. Please note that it is recommended to choose the size of the collar not according to the number, but according to the length of the neck of the dress after processing the shoulder seams. This feature of the pattern also makes sewing easier.

A few words about soft folds. A lot of them".

Two pleats under the front yoke, two pleats along the bottom of the front, two along the bottom of the back and two along the side seams. The latter are distributed in half on the pattern of the back and shelves.

And the most important design feature is the asymmetric cut of the shelf, which indicates the need to cut in a turn.

2.3. From what to sew a dress - a shirt of a free silhouette

A shirt dress can be sewn for summer and for the cold season.

A summer dress can be sewn from traditional chintz, thin denim, staple, silk and linen.

Warm dress - made of fine wool, including tartan.

The consumption of fabric for a dress with a long sleeve will be from 280 to 380 cm with a width of 140 cm.

4. How to cut this oversized dress in small, medium and large sizes

Oversized dress pattern layout for small and medium sizesBefore cutting, as usual, it is important to determine the length of the dress and sleeve you need.

The area for correcting the length of this pattern is located immediately below the yoke line of the shelf and approximately in the same place at the back. To shorten, lay horizontal folds on the patterns of the back and the middle of the shelf. To lengthen - cut horizontally and push apart.

The main feature of cutting, as mentioned above, is an asymmetric shelf and the need, because of this, to cut the dress in a turn, that is, laying out the fabric in one layer.

To avoid confusion, place the unpaired parts of the shelf - the middle and bottom parts only with the inscriptions up on the front side of the fabric.

Seam allowances are mostly standard.

1 cm is added along the side, shoulder, middle seam of the back, front and back cut of the sleeve, along the cuts of the yoke, collar and strap. You can add or not add to burlap, depending on what size burlap you need.

WE DO NOT ADD allowances for the neckline, armhole and sleeve hem.

On the bottom - no more than 2 cm. Pay attention to the bottom allowance for the middle part of the shelf - at the place of stitching, the lower part may be limited to a small allowance of 1 cm, and you will need to make a notch at this border, that is, at the point of half skid. This option is good if you will insert a contrasting piping. But you can make a uniform allowance and make a wide hem for the middle part of the shelf, to which the lower right part of the shelf will later be attached (directly to the allowance).

Oversized dress pattern layoutLet me remind you that half skid is the middle line of the shelf, which corresponds to the middle line of the body, passing through the jugular cavity and the navel.

For the convenience of cutting, you can make duplicates of paired and symmetrical parts (Figures 2 - 3).

The sequence of cutting is from large parts to small ones. Collar - after processing the shoulder seam.

We start with the layout of the asymmetrical parts of the shelf, then the back follows. Sleeves, yokes and the lower right part of the front can be stacked in any sequence.

We allocate space for the collars of the upper and lower, but do not cut it out yet.

Then, cut out the straps and burlap pockets.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the cutting of the yoke of the back and straps.

We circle the back yoke twice, turn the inscription down the second time, applying the pattern to the middle line.

For a strap, it is enough to cut a strip of fabric of the desired length.

Width of the strip in cutting = twice the width of the finished tab + 2 cm

On the 2 drawing shows an approximate layout of dress patterns for small sizes, and on 3 drawing - layout for large sizes.

After cutting, we make notches, limiting soft folds, as well as half-slip on all parts. We immediately mark the half-skid on the middle part of the shelf with a contrasting thread - a lining stitch across the face.

We mark leaflet pocketif it is a leaflet. We will mark the pockets in the side seams later.

As for the dublerin, if the dress is made of chintz or very thin denim or staple, then dubbing is needed only for the collar.

5. How to sew an oversized dress with your own hands step by step

Consider the simplest version of sewing this dress.

  1. We process the middle seam of the back to the slots with a stitched seam. It is better to overcast the seam allowances separately and iron the slots to the side - the right half of the back is on top. On the allowance of the lower half, the slots can be turned with a decorative strip of fabric or processed into a hem with an open cut (folded once). The allowance of the upper half of the slots is in the hem with a closed cut (bend twice). We leave the slot on only ironed, finishing and fixing lines are left at the time of processing the bottom. Learn more about back splines
  2. We sew the yoke to the back. Can be used sewing seam , since this seam carries the greatest load after the shoulder. We iron.
  3. We process the folds on the middle part of the shelf - we lay them along the notches, as oncoming ones, we sweep and iron them from above. You can immediately sew the bottom of the shelf in any way you choose
  4. We iron the selection of the coquette. If finishing is required, then it is possible to impose and stitch a strip of fabric ironed on both sides with a width of 3 cm in an ironed form. It should be applied so that the half-skid passes along the center line of the strip.
  5. We fold and fasten the coquettes of the shelf together, aligning their half-skid lines. We sweep the sides with large oblique stitches.
  6. We grind the coquettes of the shelf to the middle part, overcast, iron.
  7. We process with a sewing or stitching seam and iron the shoulder seams.
  8. You can cut the dubbing of the collar without seam allowances exactly along the length of the neck of the product. We glue the dubbing on the fabric and cut out the lower collar. Please note that the lower collar can be cut on an oblique - fig. 3. Seam allowances 0 cm. Cut out the top collar along the lower collar, adding “around” 7 - 0,1 cm.
  9. We grind the collar and straps.
  10. Stitch the sleeves, overcast and iron.
  11. Sweep and stitch the collar
  12. If the pockets are in the side seams, then we put all the side cuts together and, having measured 35 cm from the highest point of the side seam, we make a notch. We sew burlap to the notch, overcast a fragment of the seam with burlap and iron it. We grind, weave and iron the side seams.
  13. We grind, weave and we note the folds.
  14. Overcast, fold, iron the bottom. We process the corners of the slots and shelves.
  15. We carry out finishing lines, sew on straps and buttons.
  16. Finishing ironing.
