The democratic nature of fashion, the excessive diversity of the fabric market and the availability of patterns suitable for individual tailoring at home make the choice of summer sewing styles a very difficult task even for an experienced couturier.
Let's try to identify at least the general selection criteria for creating a summer wardrobe from dresses and sundresses.
Staple and muslin, which is also called gauze, with their lightness and softness, have an unpleasant property - they easily wrinkle and deform, stretching along the oblique. In other words, oblique cut is acceptable only in special cases.
But basically, muslin and staple "favor" Tatyanka skirts and rectangular frills.
Let's take a closer look at an example, a dress pattern cut off at the waist with a Tatyanka skirt and a bell sleeve
A bodice with a relief along the shelf should not fit too tightly to the figure - the staple and muslin are quite delicate fabrics, so we don’t try to fit the dress too much when trying on. From a set of sleeves, the “bell to the elbow” can be considered the most promising - it will be easy to iron it after washing.
For a coupon staple, we choose a “bell” sleeve with a straight bottom line, which is indicated as for guipure with a border.
One of the most popular styles of patterns - dress pattern "Tatyanka"
The style won the people's love with its simplicity and conciseness. Please note that the skirt can be of any length and any volume and does not require any cutting and sewing experience from a home couturier. One or two seams, one or two strips of fabric.

Do not ignore the shirt dresses. A loose silhouette and a non-stop sleeve are two very suitable elements. But pockets, flaps and straps made of staple and muslin are not very easy to process. The wear resistance of traditional patch pockets on staple or muslin is very low, therefore, I do not recommend it.
Attention should be paid to loose shirt dresses.
For example, a simple oversized shirt dress pattern with a pleat. One single complicating element is a fold on the shelf. We duplicate the collar with a thin interlining.
Pattern of a boho trapeze shirt dress in the form of a bathrobe. The patch pocket will have to be strengthened and not too loaded, do not duplicate the sides.
But, perhaps, the most suitable style of a shirt dress is a pattern boho style. The neckline and sides can be trimmed with a slanting strip, although this will be difficult for beginners.
And the most delicious - patterns of dresses of the "trapeze" silhouette.
One of the most promising styles can be considered simple patterns of a summer dress boho a-line kimono with pockets.
Why I consider this style to be promising - a loose silhouette, an assembly on a skirt, a one-piece sleeve, a well-secured pocket. Attention: oblique (oblique) seams are present in this style, but the front and back have a slight difference in length, and the bottom of the dress, if necessary, can be aligned again.
I think less promising a simple pattern for a summer A-line dress with a clasp at the back.
What confuses me when sewing this dress from staple or muslin? Slanted side seams. They will stretch out when worn enough that the dress sags on the sides, and it will not be possible to straighten it due to the frill. If this does not bother you, then the dress can be safely sewn. Do not duplicate boards.
However, it is better to stop at embossed boho a-line dress pattern. The seams can stretch, but slightly, the silhouette is loose, the sleeve is non-stop. Facings should not be duplicated or duplicated with a stretch doubler.
