What is raincoat fabric

Please note that the lining fabric in this case should be of very high quality and not necessarily satin (shiny on the front side). Thick cotton fabrics with a small amount of synthetic fibers are well suited to avoid shrinkage of the product when washed.

The consumption of the "top" and "lining" is almost the same 210 - 230 cm with a width of 150 cm.

The consumption of insulation depends on its width. Insulations with a width of 150 and 220 cm are more common.

In addition, the insulation can be double-layered to improve heat retention. One layer is quilted with the “top”, the other with the “lining”, while the stitch lines should not coincide.

Not too experienced tailors can recommend sandwich fabrics. This will make the task a little easier.

4. How to cut a down jacket of large and small sizes according to the finished pattern

The sequence is very simple: cut the "top", cut the "lining" and cut the insulation.

The "top" in this model is asymmetrical so that the lines of the coquettes (the upper part of the shelves) are parallel to the stitching lines of the insulation.

Allowances for seams 1,5-2 cm, except for the cuts of armholes, eyelets and necks - 0,5-0,7 cm each.

Cutting the "top" is shown in 2 drawing. The details of the middle part of the shelf are cut out in a single copy, the fabric is laid out inside out, the patterns - with the inscriptions up (if you cut on the front side, then vice versa).

For the remaining parts, the fabric is folded in half and to reduce consumption it is better to do this in stages, as shown in 2 drawing.

The cutting of the lining is shown in 3 drawing - we fold the fabric in half, combining the edges, and lay out the patterns in the most economical way.

Cuffs can be cut out or not. These are, as mentioned earlier, rectangles.

Cuff width = 2 finished widths + 3 cm (4 cm, since the thickness of the insulation hides the width)

Cuff length = length of the bottom of the sleeve in finished form + 3 cm (4 cm - so that the cuff does not squeeze the sleeve, it is better to fit it)

Number of details: the middle of the hood - under one of the "top" fabric and lining fabric, burlap - two each. Asymmetric shelves - one only from the "top" fabric.

It is more convenient to cut the insulation according to the details of the cut, and not according to the patterns. We lay out the insulation in one layer, lay out the details of the cut on it and add "around" allowances of 2 - 3 cm.

5. How to sew a winter down jacket - sewing sequence

The sewing sequence, after all the parts are temporarily connected to the insulation and then quilted, is very simple:

1. Collect "top".
2. Assemble the lining.
3. Connect.

Separately, it is worth noting the assembly order. You should collect:

1. The right shelf - the upper middle part with the middle lower one.

2. The left shelf - the upper middle part with the middle lower one.

3. Collect further the entire "top".
