4. How to make a ski jacket

Sew ski suits from raincoat fabrics. More preferred are two-layer membrane fabrics. For example, "raincoat fabric on milk." Of course, any sufficiently strong raincoat fabrics will do.

Don't forget to sew reflective stripes on the bottom of your trousers.

Many people opt for printed raincoat fabric to make repairs easier and thus extend the life of the suit.

The consumption of the "top" will be from 180 to 240 cm, with a width of 150 cm.

Insulation consumption from 180 to 400 cm - depends on the thickness of the insulation and the design of the couturier.

For lining, you can take both a dense lining fabric and fleece.

The consumption of the lining will be 140 - 180 cm.

For windproof cuffs, you will need 40 - 60 cm of knitted "tie" (cuff fabric). More expense if the wind protection at the bottom of the jacket is from the knit. Wide elastic band - the consumption is equal to the girth of the hips, if the wind protection needs an additional fit to the figure.

Lightning need 6 pieces:

6. How to cut a ski jacket according to a finished pattern

If all the nuances of sewing a jacket are thought out by you in advance, then cutting will be very simple.

An example layout is shown in 2 drawing.

If the stitch is not limited to two or three lines, the seam allowances can not be increased, if the stitch is tighter, then we increase the seam allowances by 1,5 - 2 cm. And after quilting, we cut them to standard patterns.

Let me remind you that the standard seam allowance is 1 cm, but we do not leave allowances for the neck, armhole and hem.

We cut out the covering details in doubles - we will need them to avoid thickening at the junction of the ends of the collar with the ends of the hood.

The hem and lining are cut out according to the shelf pattern, for which the shelf is cut along the hem-lining line.

The insulation is cut out without observing the direction of the threads - the details of the already finished cut of the “top” and the lining are laid out taking into account savings and cut out with allowances of 1 cm.

7. How to sew a ski jacket with your own hands

The sewing sequence is as follows:

1. The details of the cut are pricked or basted on the insulation with large (7 - 8 cm) oblique stitches. Then, they are quilted and cut according to the patterns with the appropriate allowances.
2. Welt pockets are made on the front and on the sleeve.
3. Then, the “top” (shelf-back-sleeve) of the jacket is assembled. In the sleeve-side seam, ventilation pockets with a hidden zipper are processed.
4. Mitts or wind protection cuffs are processed.
5. Assemble the lining of the jacket. Everything is as usual and wind protection. Wind protection cuffs in this model are proposed to be replaced with mittens. The mittens are attached to the sleeve lining. A "skirt" of wind protection is attached to the lining of the jacket with indented from the bottom by 5 - 7 cm.
   How to attach?
   Sew and cover with bias tape, or cut the lining and stitch all three sections so that the open section of the windscreen is inside the product. Wind protection processing options are shown in the photo of the couturier from the network.
6. The hood is assembled separately - the "top" of the hood, the lining of the hood, the connection of the "top" and the lining. The protrusion signed as "semi-skid" is not processed.
7. The collar also needs to be assembled, but do not process its ends.
8. The hood and collar are sewn into the neck.
9. It's the lightning's turn. When the zipper is stitched, at the top (at the level of the ends of the collar and hood) it is processed with a “covering” detail.
10. After the zipper, you can process and sew the bar.
11. Finally, connect the "top" with the lining.
