The general drawing of the patterns from the PDF file of the pattern dress-case slimming(picture 1):

  1. Back patterns - middle part and side.
  2. Shelf patterns - the middle part and the barrel.
  3. Sleeve pattern tapered to the bottom.

Neck facing patterns are not included in the kit, as the facings are cut out according to the patterns of the front and back (picture 2).

2.2 Description of the design of the dress pattern - the "slimming" case

Photo of a dress case slimming according to a finished patternThis is the style of a sheath dress with an adjacent silhouette with reliefs on the front and back.

The reliefs are deliberately placed close to the side seam. Such a relief shift allows you to optically make the figure more slender.

The presence of a tuck for the chest on the middle part of the shelf allows you to sew this style from an absolutely stable (inelastic) fabric.

The dress is slightly tapered at the bottom.

On the sleeve there is a marking for the middle seam. The pattern can be cut along this line if there is not enough fabric. Of course, you can sew a two-color sleeve.

3. What to sew a sheath dress from and how much fabric is consumed

Any fabrics of the dress assortment with sufficient density and thickness for the case will do.

Suitable for both dress wool and denim. Plaid or printed fabric is suitable for central details.

For a summer dress, you can use linen and cotton fabrics, as well as thick silk.

For sewing this model, it is desirable to use companion fabrics.

And there are options when fabrics will have different properties. For example, a stable fabric for the sleeves and the central parts of the front-back, plus a black stretch of low or medium stretch for the side parts.

Consumption for different sizes will be from 120 + 120 cm to 190 + 130 cm with a width of 140 - 150 cm.

4. How to cut a dress - a case for a finished pattern for sewing at home

The facings for the neck are cut out along the middle parts of the shelf and backHaving chosen the size and length of the sleeve, you can start cutting (picture 3).

The main point is to fold the fabric along the width of the laid out parts of the dress.

Left on 3 drawing the layout of the "light" parts is shown. The fabric is folded in half along the width of the middle parts of the front and back. After them, the sleeves are cut out.

Right on 3 drawing - layout of "dark" - side parts. The fabric is folded in half along the width of the side parts.

The pattern of fabric folding is shown in bubbles.

How to cut a sheath dress according to ready-made patterns figure 3As you can see, the sleeves can be cut from both “light” and “dark” fabrics.

Seam allowances - 1 - 1,2 cm. No allowances are added along the neckline, armholes and hem. On the bottom - 2,5 - 3 cm.

The facings for the neckline are cut out along the middle parts of the front and back from dublerin without seam allowances (picture 2). The width of the facings is 2,5 - 4 cm.

For the subsequent convenience of assembling the dress, make notches at the waist on all the details of the case and a notch above the highest point of the eyelet, which is marked in the drawing. Notches are also placed against the lines of the tucks and along the half-slip.

The half-skid (the middle line of the middle of the shelf) should also be marked with a thread so that it is preserved until the product is ready.

Dubbing blanks are glued onto the remnants of the fabric and then cut out with seam allowances at the place where the fragments are sewn, that is, along the shoulder sections and, if there are middle seams, then along the middle seam. The width of the seam allowance is 1 cm.

5. How to sew a sheath dress at home - a sequence for individual tailoring

  1. We collect the back - a zipper in the middle seam. Assembly for fitting involves sewing with a “basting” line or basting, as well as ironing or ironing each seam.
  2. We collect the shelf in the same way, then - the side and shoulder seams.
  3. We collect the sleeve and proceed to the fitting, which can be divided into two stages or make two separate fittings - as you wish.
  4. Trying on the first stage (or the first fitting): we adjust the fit and degree of fit of the dress; if necessary, adjust the armhole and, placing shoulder pads (if required), mark three points of connection of the sleeve with the armhole. The first connection point is already there - this is the highest point of the eye and the point of the shoulder seam. It remains to outline the points of the front and elbow rolls, so that there are no creases on the sleeve.
  5. Sweep the sleeve at the marked points and try on again.
  6. Trying on the second stage (or second fitting): we clarify the correctness of the knitting of the sleeve, the shape of the neckline, which, if desired, we correct, observing symmetry. Adjust the length if necessary.
  7. We grind, weave and iron or iron the seams of the shelf, the seams of the back, the side and shoulder seams, we sew the sleeve. That is, we repeat the assembly of the dress in the same sequence as at the initial stage using the straight line (which you use for sewing) and overcasting stitches.
  8. The bottom is processed into a hem with an open cut - overcast and fold once, then iron.
